When I Found You...

Chapter 41

I dialled his number into my phone not caring about the cost. I glanced over to the clock which read 8:00pm, so I guessed it was around 4:00pm where Sal was.
As the phone rang a few times he finally picked up.
"Hello?" He asked.
"Hey Sal, it's Rachel" I softly said.
"Rachel?! H-how are you?" Sal asked.
"I'm good- I've been missing you" I said. "How are you?" I asked.
"Feeling a bit better. Murr has dragged me to the writers room in work" Sal explained. "Why are you calling?"
"I- I just wanted to hear your voice" I told him. I could sense the smile in his lips.
"We'll hear it is" he said with a laugh. Before I could say anything more I heard a voice in the background say
"Hey babe". It sounded a lot like Kelly's voice.
I coughed a little in shock then said
"I-uh- gotta go" I quickly said.
"Rachel wait~" Sal began but I hung up.
I felt so hurt. I presumed he must have moved on. I slumped onto the sofa thinking non stop about him.

Meanwhile in New York, Sal threw his phone on the desk as he buried his head in his hands. Kelly grabbed the chair and sat beside him.
"What's wrong?" Kelly asked.
"I think Rachel heard you when you joked and called me babe" Sal revealed.
"Maybe you should just forget about her" Kelly advised. "Why don't you go on a date with me instead, tonight?" Kelly asked.
Joe quickly ran into the room and interrupted, making it obvious he was listening.
"He can't. He's going out with me tonight!" Joe said.
"What about tomorrow?" Kelly asked Sal, placing her hand over his. Joe quickly ran over and moved Sals chair away so their hands wouldn't touch.
"He can't do anything or the next upcoming week! We have a lot of planning for the show" Joe lied.
"Sal- give me a call later!" Kelly said as she left the room. Joe pulled up a chair opposite Sal.
"What's wrong bud?" Joe asked.
"Rachel called" Sal bluntly replied.
"That's good! Isn't it?"
"Yeah it would've been if Kelly hadn't called me babe. Rachel heard it!" Sal complained.
"Then you need to explain to her that she was joking. And you need to tell Kelly your not interested. You do still like Rachel, right?" Joe asked.
"No I don't like her.... I love her!" Sal confided.
"Then you need to extravagantly tell her. Show her how much she means to you!" Joe advised him.

With that, Sal thought long and hard about what to do...
