"People say, that some mysteries and left to be unsolved. Forever. I don't think that's the case. Eren, you have been working so hard that you almost forgot to visit me. But I'm sure it's all worth it. I want you to find the man that did this, and kill them." Armin spoke slowly, staring at the bed he sat on. Eren had only just managed to walk through the door when Armin started speaking.
It shocked the brunette to find his best friend sitting on a hospital bed, almost looking dead. He had third degree burns on parts of his arm, scars slowly forming from that. His hair had been cut shorter in order for the doctors to help him. He looked malnourished (then again, most people would if they had to live off hospital food for weeks on end).
"Are you alright, Armin?" Eren asked, trying to make the atmosphere lighter.
"Oh I'm just jazzy. You know, being in this same hospital room for three weeks is just swell. Hasn't taken a toll on my sanity in any way, shape, or form!" Armin spoke sarcastically, obviously tired from the medication.
"Im sorry man, for both not being here and for how you feel. The doctor told me you should be getting out soon, though who knows how close that it." Eren mumbled, clasping his hands together and taking a step forward. Armin shook his head, a soft smile playing on his lips.
"Don't worry, it isn't your fault. Hey! What is that I see on your finger?" Armin exclaimed, trying to get closer to Eren. The brunette, who was slightly shocked his best friend has noticed that quickly, lifted his right hand. On his ring finger there was the ring Levi had given him. A symbol of their love.
"Oh yeah, Levi proposed." Eren smiled fondly down at the ring that rested on his finger.
"Oh my god! He did! Come here, let me see that gorgeous ring!" Armin exclaimed, practically jumping up and down on the hospital bed. Though that proved tricky, as many IV needles were attached all over Armin's arms. Eren picked up his pace and walked over to his best friends bedside.
Armin grabbed onto his right arm, pulling the ring closer.
"Oh Eren, it's beautiful. He's got it bad for you." He joked, laughing slightly. Eren playfully pushed his shoulder, laughing a long with Armin.
"Seems so. Oh, you'll be my main man right? Or would it be considered maid of honour?" Eren asked, suddenly becoming extremely giddy.
"I think that spot should be reserved for Mika. You two grew up together. Don't pity me 'cause I got hurt. Now, your girl needs some rest." Armin spoke, finally laying down. Eren squeezed Armin's hand one last time before leaving.
"See ya Armin."
"Buh-bye darlin'." The meds were taking a tole on Armin's speech. He was starting to sound like some typical white girl.
Eren left the hospital, leisurely strolling back towards the agency. He watched as the birds flew by, young teenage couples walked cheerfully hand-in-hand. He smiled fondly at those couples, reminding himself of when him and Levi were like that.
As he walked through the park, taking a longer way back to the agency, he reminisced on the time when him and Levi first met. It wasn't under good conditions, for it was in the middle of senior year. That was Eren's worst year.
That was the year in which he lost himself. A longtime girlfriend-whom he thought he loved-cheated on him with an ex-friend and then dumped him. She went missing, only 3 months later did he find out they ran away to Vegas and she got pregnant. He felt betrayed, but no one knew that.
Another thing that happened that year, that helped in his loosing himself, was meeting Levi. Levi Ackerman used to be a complete jerk that nobody liked. Yet, he was valedictorian of their year. Levi was in every class with Eren, and he made every class miserable for Eren. But then Eren slipped up, his sleeve fell down. The stoic ravenette saw everything Eren had been hiding.
Levi made it a point to help Eren after that, as he had lost his own best friends to suicide. Well, a murder-suicide.
Eren looked up from where he stopped, right in front of his agency. He knew, that once he stepped inside that building, there was no going back.
And so he stepped in.
