I jumped up from the kitchen table and headed for the door, Troy jumped in front of me stopping me.

"Where do you think you're going?" He asked me.

"What do you mean where am I going? My best friend just took off to drop a huge bomb on not only my dad but our Alpha, you think that's going to be a calm conversation?" I shot back at him. Annie was normally a very calm person and didn't like confrontation, so for her to take off like she did I knew she was extremely angry.

"Oh I hope it blows up in his face. He deserves whatever is coming to him." Troy crossed his arms across his chest unmoving. I could easily move him but with him not being able to control his powers yet I didn't want to take the chance on him drowning one of us or flooding their home.

"I need to be there." I crossed my arms mimicking him.

"Why? After what he did to you? You owe him nothing, not even your presence." He frowned at the mere thought of me going back to the pack house and being near Sam. His words had made me pause though, why should I go there? After what he had done, or tried to do, he deserved nothing from me.

But still, even though our bond had been broken by my rejection I could still feel it there. They say when a person loses an arm, leg, or finger they can sometimes get what is called Phantom Limb, they think that appendage is there, can even think they feel it itch but it's not there. I feel like that now, I feel like that bond is there but I know it is not. I would never take him back, not after last night but I needed to see him one last time. I wanted to show him that he did not and will not break me, I did not want to be his victim.

"I will not be his victim, he needs to see I'm still standing strong." I explained to Troy and saw him soften. His eyes glazed over as he mind linked Annie once again. I waited patiently for them to communicate grateful that Troy had gotten that gift when Annie had marked him, he couldn't link with anyone else but her.

"Okay, but I'm taking you. Annie will kill me if I let you go alone and there is absolutely no way I'm going to miss this." He stepped to the side so I could walk out of the kitchen. I didn't argue with him, as long as I got there was all that mattered.

I wasn't surprised when Troy pulled up in front of Annie's childhood home, I had assumed something like this would have taken place in the Alpha's home. I could hear the angry voices coming from inside as soon as I got out of the truck and headed into the house.

"How DARE you try to mark or even touch my daughter without her consent! I ought to strangle you right here and now." I heard my dad yell, I didn't need x-ray vision to know who he was yelling at.

"Jay." My mom scolded him but I could tell her heart wasn't in it. She was probably more surprised at his outburst, my dad was not one to yell or get angry.

"Let him Aunt Dawn, I don't think anyone would mind too much." I heard my best friend growl also surprising me.

"Annie!" Aunt Lou gasped.

"Everyone just calm down." I heard Uncle Alph say as he slammed his hand on his desk. I took that opportunity to knock on Uncle Alphs door and walk in. It was a full room, my parents, Annie, and her parents were in there, not to mention Sam and his parents. I tried not to look at him until I had to.

"Renee sweetie are you okay?" My mom embraced me as soon as I walked in, Aunt Lou right behind her to check on me.

"Yes, yes I'm fine." I assured them both as I untangled myself from my mom's arms.

"Renee." Uncle Alph addressed me. "I know this will be difficult for you, and I can clear the room if need be but I need to know what happened in your own words. Annie has filled us in on what little she knows but I need to hear it from you so I can deal with this properly understood?"
