One week later.........

I had just finished my morning training with the warriors, today's fun activity had been a twenty five mile run. Half in wolf form which was great, but half in human form which I'm pretty sure killed me. I was trying to catch my breath and drink water simultaneously when Uncle Alph approached me.

"Good morning Alpha." I greeted him formally since there were other pack members around.

"Renee." He nodded at me. "Luna and I would like to meet with you in my office in an hour, will that give you enough time to eat and clean up?"

"Yes Alpha." I answered.

"Good. We will see you then." He turned and headed towards Warrior Baker to get the weekly update on all the warriors' progress or ones that needed more training.

I stood up and quickly ran thru my stretches while thinking about what they wanted to talk to me about. Today had been my first day back to training, Uncle Alph had given me a week off to mourn the loss of my mate and to get myself centered again. I had spent the week hidden away at Annie's, far enough away from the pack to be alone but close enough that I could be there quickly if needed. After much prodding from Troy, Annie had quit checking on me every ten minutes and checked in every couple hours. I didn't mind though, it just showed me how much she cared about me and she usually showed up with chocolate or ice cream when she checked in on me. What girl was going to complain about that?

After I finished my stretches I headed home to shower and get ready for my meeting. The smell of French toast casserole hit my nose as soon as I opened the front door making my stomach rumble. My shower could wait till after breakfast and I followed the delectable smell to the kitchen where both of my parents were sitting at the table eating. I stopped for a minute and observed them, they were sitting close together with their legs touching. They were reading the morning paper but I caught them sneaking glances at each other when they thought the other one wasn't looking. After all these years they were still madly in love with each other. I felt a small pang in my heart, I would never have that with my mate, I may never have it period. I cleared my throat to make my presence known.

"Good morning sweetie, hungry?" My mom turned in her seat with a bright smile.

"Famished." I told her as I grabbed a plate before sitting down.

"How did training go this morning?" Dad asked as he passed me the syrup.

"Rough. Warrior Baker had us all run twenty five miles, it was awful." My legs felt like jello and quivered at the thought of running again.

"Twenty Five miles seems like a bit much, doesn't it Jay?" Moms eyebrow furrowed as she looked at my dad.

"It is a lot but it will build up their endurance. I just hope he gave them the rest of the day off." He assured her then looked at me. "What are your plans for the day?"

I swallowed the bite I had just taken before I answered. Talking with food in your mouth was one of my mom's pet peeves so I made a conscious effort not to do it in front of her.

"Uncle Alph and Aunt Lou want to see me in a little bit."

"What for?" Mom asked trying not to show that she was concerned. Ever since Sam had been banished from the pack both my parents had tried to give me space and not ask a million questions. I knew that they were both concerned about me and I was grateful they hadn't pushed me.

"I'm not sure. Probably just to get my Luna lessons back on schedule." I shrugged making it seem like it was no big deal but I was secretly a little nervous. I didn't know what I would be walking into in just a little bit. "I better go get cleaned up. Thank you for breakfast."
