Chapter 21

Annie, Troy, Aunt Lou, my mom, and Queen Sandra were all piled into the makeshift doctors room in the Alexander's home, as I looked around the room I was amazed at all the supplies and instruments that were in there. Annie had told us on the way over here that the Mer doctor had an actual office in town where he treated both humans and Mer's, so the room we were in now was for the Alexander's personal use only or if they had a guest that went ill while in their home. A knock sounded on the door before it opened a man in a white lab coat walked in.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Erik." He greeted us. Dr. Erik was a lot younger than I had anticipated, I knew Mer's also aged slowly like werewolves did but I guess I had expected someone older or at least that looked like my mom's age, this guy looked to be as old as me. By the wary look on Annie's face I could tell she was thinking along the same lines.

"Is this guy twelve?" I asked Troy over the mind link.

"You and Annie spend way too much time together, she just asked me the same question. The answer is no, he's actually just celebrated his seventieth birthday." I could hear the eye roll in his voice even though his face remained neutral.

"I was thrilled to hear the news about the pregnancy, congratulations your highnesses." Dr. Erik bowed towards Troy and Annie, they both bowed their heads in return and I was again amazed at her. She hated being called your highness but you would never know it by the look on her face, she took it was poise and dignity.

"Hello your majesty." He greeted Troy's mom before turning to the rest of us for introductions. "Now, who do we have here?"

"This is my mother Luna Sue Rogers, my aunt Dr. Dawn Lawrence-she is one of the pack doctors, and my best friend Renee Lawrence- the future Luna of the Harvest Moon Pack." Annie pointed to each of us as she introduced us.

"A pleasure to meet all of you." He bowed to us in greeting. "Dr. Lawrence I am especially intrigued to meet with you, I've wanted to speak to a werewolf doctor for years and haven't been able to for obvious reasons."

"I'm excited to meet you as well, I'm hoping we will be able to work together closely on this." I smiled to myself at my mother's wording, everyone else would have taken it as a request but I knew it was a demand and if that demand was not met it would not be pretty. Annie was like a daughter to my parents and I knew there was no way they would just stand back during this pregnancy.

"I think that's an excellent idea and also in the best interest for everyone." He smiled a kind smile then turned back to Annie and Troy. "So, how are you feeling?"

"Well my right calf is a little tense and I've got this awful kink in my neck." Troy answered as he rolled his neck dramatically. I knew he was trying to break the tension with humor so I gave him a pity laugh.

"We can look at that after we take care of your mate who is much more important at the moment." Dr. Erik said gently to Troy whose humorous face dropped to one of a child that had just gotten in trouble that made me bark out a real laugh. "Now, Annie, how are you feeling?"

"Um, okay I guess? I feel huge and I'm constantly hungry, I also haven't been sleeping well because the baby is moving around so much." Annie looked down and rubbed her tummy, I hadn't noticed till now how big she had gotten, it was like she had grown over night.

"How far along do you estimate you are?" Dr. Erik asked as he scribbled some notes.

"Two months, I uh, had my last heat on schedule but missed this past one." Her cheeks flamed red as she spoke about her heat.

"Is that normal for werewolves?" Dr. Erik directed the question to my mother taking pity on Annie from having to answer any questions about going into heat.
