The next day came and went pretty quickly, I met with Darius and we ate lunch at his place which ended in him trying to sleep with me like we usually would only I just couldn't right now. I just had so much on my mind which luckily he understood, even though he didn't ask what. I worked the evening shift at the restaurant and kept wandering if Roman would walk in or suddenly show up as I left. He didn't.
When I woke up, the weather was shit and I couldn't see any of my friends like I'd planned as they were all busy and some weren't in NY right now. I went to call Darius when saw a new voicemail on my phone. I don't know why my heart skipped a beat cuz it never usually did when I got voicemails but I listened to it, only to become pissed off when I discovered it was mum. "Naomi, I want you to call me if you see Roman. Can't and absolutely won't have that boy bother you. God knows the lies he'd tell you. My heart kinda ached at what she'd told me about Roman at a presentation and what he'd done with another girl. Why do I care? He's probably slept with more than just one while we've been apart, plus I had Darius now, and we actually felt an attachment, unlike anything Roman would feel with any of the girls he fucked. Mum even knew this but it's like she kept bringing Roman up to hurt me, which is mainly why I stopped calling and texting her. When I'd first made it to NY I'd made a really close friend called Reagan who let me work at her family's restaurant and stay with her till I saved enough for this place.
