Once I'd packed and convinced mum I was staying with some friends for 2 weeks, I chose a cute but comfy outfit for the car ride there and comfortable shoes to match.
I hopped in Roman's car and smirked at his gawping face as I buckled myself in beside him.
"You ready gorgeous? We're getting away. At least for a bit."
Roman smiled gently, tucking some hair behind my ear as I smiled warmly back at him.
"I'm more than ready handsome, and we will be escaping, even if it is only two weeks. Hey, are you sure Shelley and Peter won't be lonely while we're gone?"
I suddenly realised, furrowing my brows in concern.
Roman started up his engine again before replying with a reassuring smile,
"Baby, they're gonna be fine. Besides, I think Peter has a thing for my fucking cousin. "
Roman's smile dropped and turned to more of a frown as his jaw clenched at what he'd just said, pulling out of my drive."Hey.."
I put my hand on his arm as his eyes were tightly fixated on the road ahead, his jaw loosened and face became a little softer as I changed the subject to someone who always made him happy, Shelley.
"Will Shelley be working on her novel she's been writing?"
I smiled. Roman grinned, glancing at me briefly before focusing back on the road.
"Yeah she is. Probably sat at her spot by her tree beside the lake."
I rubbed his arm smiling,
"Yeah, I can see her now."
I saw him smiling at the road ahead.
"Yeah.. me too."
He replied quietly. 'Good', I thought, for now while it's just us, away from Hemlock, I had a chance to take his mind off things, and mine. We could really have a taste of what it feels like to be living, not just coping. After two hours or so of driving and talking, we passed the sign to the beach we were staying at. I felt myself grin as I turned to Roman who was doing the same, excitement brewing as we began to smell the sea and feel the cool sea breeze through our hair as Roman had the car roof down. We pulled up outside a medium sized, large windowed house right on the beach, the sea right opposite. Roman jumped out quickly and as I was about to open my door, he opened it for me and took my hand to help me out like a gentleman. I smiled and kissed his cheek, grabbing the suitcases before Roman took them from me.
"Go ahead, you get to unlock it."
He smirked, tossing me the key from his pocket. I felt an eager grin creep onto my face as I caught them and within seconds, made a run for the door of what we'd call home for the next two weeks we'd be staying here.
