Coffee and rain

We made it through the rain, Roman crouching under the umbrella most of the way which was amusing till we found my favourite coffee place, 'Candles'. It was cozy and had little candles and lights around but not in the romantic sense, but to make it warm and welcoming.

"So, how bout here?"
I looked up at Roman's 6'4 figure beside me as we stood in the doorway. I saw a smirk spread across his face before he look at me, replying,
"Perfect."
I felt really excited he liked it. I pulled his sleeve eagerly as we chose to sit at two armchairs by the window facing each other with a little wooden table between us.
"What can I get you?"
I offered Roman getting my wallet from my pocket. Roman quickly put his hand in mine to stop me, making me stop in my tracks, I could almost feel electricity passing between us but remembered Darius and pulled my hand back.
"Let me."
Roman gave a soft smile before getting to his feet.
"Gingerbread latte? Or has that changed as well?"
He seemed almost harsh in the way he offered my favourite drink.
I gave a confused smile and nodded, unsure what exactly he meant. He headed over to the counter to order our drinks then once he'd collected them I thanked him.

"Roman."
I said to get his attention as he placed his mug down after a sip. He made eye contact,
"Naomi?"
He smiled, getting me to say what I wanted to.
"What did you mean earlier? You know, when you said, or had that changed as well."
Roman held his smile but it started to look a little fake.
"I think we both know what I meant don't we?"
He chuckled casually. I felt a little annoyed at how he was acting. I frowned.
"My life you mean. The fact I've grown the fuck up, the fact I've moved on and the fact I've actually got a guy who takes care of me and calls to know I'm ok."
I mentally slapped myself after I'd said what I'd said. Shit. I shouldn't have said that much. I was planning on telling Roman about Darius, maybe even introducing them but not like this, and not today.

Roman looked like he'd been hit across the face as his eyes grew wide, boring right into mine as I feared he could actually hear me gulp.
"You're dating?"
He spoke firmly.
"Yeah, yes I am."
I replied trying to sound like I wasn't about to piss myself. His facial expression grew angry.
"Name."
He simply said. I frowned,
"What?"
I asked quieter.
"What's his name?"
Roman snapped in a demanding tone, eyes fixated on me.
"Darius. Darius Blake."
Suddenly I remembered hearing about how he'd been sleeping round again in Hemlock when I left and felt angry myself and realised how unfair he was being right now.
"And it's not like I'm the one who broke up with you."
I snapped back. Roman's eyes eventually moved from mine to his mug.
"And it's not like I just hire people when I'm horny and fuck people whenever the hell I want."
I glared madly at him, trying not to imagine all the girls he'd been with after what we had.

Roman kept his head down but still answered.
"I know. Jesus I know. I really fucked up."
He eventually lifted his head and leaned forward slightly, looking me in the eyes again.
"I fucked up doing what I did, what I do and letting you go. But I'm not leaving here till I fucking get you back."
My heart jumped to my throat as I became speechless at his words. Goddammit Roman, why'd you always have to get inside my head. Why do I let you?
"Roman.."
I breathed heavily, calming down a little as I found it hard to maintain eye contact with Roman.
"Like I said, I, I have someone now. I genuinely think he's amazing."
I said honestly.
"So you're telling me you're not just using him to forget me?"
He asked getting straight to the point. I scoffed in disbelief at his arrogance.
"Do you really think I'd be wallowing over you still after the way you left things, after I was there for you more than ever, going crazy myself and having no one have my back?"
I raised my voice a little.
"Have you fucked?"
Roman glared at me awaiting my response. I hesitated but thought about those girls again.
"Yes, on several occasions, and I didn't have to pay him cuz we mean something to each other."
I stood up and drunk the rest of my latte as it was much cooler, then slammed it a little too hard on the table before heading out the door, taking the umbrella with me and jogging home.
