Author's note: Sorry I haven't been doing author's notes - I'm a little insecure about this story as it's something new I'm trying and I don't think it's my best work. Anyway's I hope you enjoy what I've written so far - especially sassy Lou. He's so fucking cute. Harry is a mess, but he's a hot mess so it's okay. Liam is overbearing and Zayn and Niall... well we just haven't met them yet, if at all.

"Hey, neighbor!" Louis said in a singsong voice as he knocked on Harry's door.

Harry opened the door fairly quickly - it only took him a few seconds rather than a few minutes this time.

"Hey," Harry said with a soft smile. He was wearing the beanie again, his dark hair tucked away into the grey fabric.

"Sorry to be creepy," Louis chuckled. "But I didn't say a proper goodbye this morning since we were in such a rush. And I tried to text you when I got to work, but I don't believe I have your number."

"Wow," Harry smirked. His dimples made an appearance, causing Louis to bite his lip, blushing. "That's quite a pickup line."

"Damn," Louis giggled, handing his phone over to Harry. "Someone got quite the confidence boost in the past twenty four hours. Just last night, you barely agreed to be my friend."

Harry shrugged and then paused to enter his number into Louis' phone. "Texted myself, so you know, I have yours too," he said, handing it back. "And shut up. I'm still shy."

"Well, I love the sarcasm," Louis said, shoving his phone into his pocket. "Now, let's go. We're doing that tour of the town I promised you."

Louis took Harry by the hand, pulling him towards the street, where his car awaited.

"Hey, hey, let me at least lock up first," Harry said, laughing as he shook Louis off of him. He couldn't explain why, but he suddenly was starting to feel less jittery. And he hadn't even started his new prescription yet.

"Hurry up," Louis whined, jogging over to his car. He hopped in and started to beep at Harry as he locked the door.

"Calm down," Harry said, shaking his head as he joined Louis in the passenger seat of his Nissan Ultima. "No Liam?"

Louis shook his head. "Nope. Liam has to lead the nature club this afternoon. Nerd."

"Wow," Harry giggled. "I wouldn't take him as the type. He doesn't seem to like to get dirty."

"Oh he's not," Louis replied. "They basically forced him to do it. He gets extra pay, so that's basically his only incentive."

"Nice," Harry replied. "So where are we going?"

"You'll have to wait and see," Louis said with a smirk.

They drove for a few minutes, passing open fields and pastures. The sky was blue and the air was a bit humid still, even though fall was quickly approaching and the leaves were beginning to change from green to auburn.

"So, here we are," Louis finally said, turning into a fully packed parking lot.

"Wow," Harry said, raising an eyebrow. "It looks like the entirety of the town's population made it here."

"Pretty much," Louis replied. "Anyways, this is Brenda's Kitchen. The best - and only diner in our town. Mad good."

"Mad good?" Harry asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, mad good," Louis repeated, wrinkling his nose and giving Harry a strange look. "Like that's super good. You're from New York, you should know this."

"Oh," Harry said, his face turning red. "Well we don't say that upstate...."

"You're weird," Louis said, hitting his arm playfully. Harry tried to smile, but his stomach was starting to hurt now. What if he was making a huge mistake?
