I slowly climbed the steep stairs, one step, two steps. They seemed to go on forever, much longer then before. I felt taunted, able to hear every word the skeletons said. I was still shaking from what had just occurred, hearing Sans' voice causing me to shiver. I couldn't shake the image of the gun that laid in his hands, the steel illuminated by the dim light of the room. My hands began to shake, my heart wavering with a sudden burst of fear. Was I actually safe here? Should I leave? I had nowhere else to go. Where would I run too? I clenched the dress in my hands, seeing tears fall from my face and onto the floor with a gentle thud. I had to stay, the choice being either the dark and cruel streets or a mafia house. The choice was clear to me, causing me to sigh, a little dissatisfied with my choices at present. I look up, finally reaching the top of the staircase. Something catches the corner of my eye, causing me to look over, my forlorn emotions slowly vanishing away. Lil' Pup lay silently in bed, their eyes closed gently as they dreamed of the sweetest things, like nothing was going wrong in the world. They were an innocent, unable to fully understand the world's harshness.
" Sleep tight Lil' Pup " I smiled tenderly, turning to face my clean and simple room, the smell of cleaner filling the air and causing me to gag a little. The smell was too strong, making my stomach turn from its unpleasantness.
I walk over to the satin bed slowly, my footsteps thumping gently on the wood floor. I take this time to look around, noting that it would b best to familiarize myself if I was going to stay. I saw the bed, obviously. I also noted there to be some photos and perfume, guessing these belonged to the Old Boss. I picked a photo up in my rough and worn hands, running my finger over the cold glass panel that lay between me and a long forgotten memory. Sans and Papyrus stood beside a woman, a woman who looked to be a goat of some kind. She wore smart but casual clothes and a large sunhat. They all seemed to be happy, genuinely and not hiding behind any masks. I smiled too, able to feel the loving warmth that seemed to emit from the object, filling my entire being with its glow. It doesn't last. I jump upon hearing a familiar voice, turning to see Sans stood in the doorway.
" She was a good woman " I nodded, not speaking a word to the short monster. I couldn't face him, not after his actions. I could feel myself well up thinking bout it, my heart becoming as heavy as lead. Sans sighs, his black shoes thumping on the wood as they came closer to me. I looked down at the photo in my hands, keeping my back to the skeleton.
" I'm sorry kiddo, Paps explained why I was wrong. Guess I was GUNning for a reaction hehe. What can you expect from the mafia? " I turned to Sans, able to look him in the sockets, his smile as kind and soft as it had ever been. It made me smile to see that he understood that he was wrong and was willing to make things right.
" Gonna order out for Grillby's. Wanna join us? " I placed the photo down, nodding enthusiastically. I was somehow still hungry and tie alone with the monsters would be nice, knowing that with Papyrus there nothing bad would happen.
