Things seemed so strange to me but also so similar, like I had seen it all before. In a sense I had. This world resembled my own in so many ways. The buildings, walls and even the small details such as signs on every street corner. I felt at home, my heart easing with every second spent in this foreign world. Tears pricked my eyes more with every step I took, memories flooding back into me in both bad and good waves. I could feel Sans' hollow sockets stare back at me with such feeling that could only be described as unnerving, almost like he had seen such emotion before. A bony hand touches my shoulder gently, small droplets falling softly as I turned my head.
" Kiddo, ya ok? " I nodded, feeling my heart skip with joy at the memories that passed me by like a tidal wave. The concern that laid in Sans' voice told me that I wasn't alone anymore, no longer walking solo in the darkest night. I felt a gentle tug on my dress. Lil' Pup was laden with worry, tears of their own laying in those gentle and childlike eyes. I wiped away my own tears, kneeling down to the child and hugging them gently, feeling their smaller and steadier heartbeat against my own. It felt somewhat soothing to feel the heartbeat of another human, almost therapeutic in a way.
" Sans look look! " I smiled, able to sense Papyrus' excitement with my eyes closed, his voice glittered with the enthusiasm of a child who was waiting for presents on Christmas morning. How could I have doubted it before? This was the life I wanted, the life I needed. I was finally a free soul, it may be a freedom bathed in blood but I was willing to take it for my own safety. I stood to my feet, keeping a tight hold of the child's hand that had wormed its way into my larger one. Sans chuckled, the fabric of his waistcoat gleaming in the low light of the backstreets. This all seemed so right to me. Two skeletons and a human, a strange but perfect family.
