Silence settled all around us, a sick feeling emerging in my stomach. I was relieved but I could not dismiss the small patches of fear that still covered my heart, fueling the sickness and causing it to rise through my fragile veins and around my body. I could almost feel myself being torn apart into two separate entities. One smelt like blood and gunsmoke, the path in front of me littered with a million corpses. The other path was bright, the sweet scet of roses filling the air. What would become of me if I stayed like this? Would I become like Sans and Papyrus, following orders from a higher power and keeping others in place? Only time would tell and at this point I had to keep my composure. Things would get better, I hoped. I slowly stood to my feet, guided by Papyrus' grasp as he helped me up. I wiped my eyes with my sleeve and sniffled a little. I hoped to have not displeased the two mafia members with my weak personality. I was guided into the living room, feeling a sense of inconvenience to the two monsters for a split second. Those thoughts were washed away like a clean slate as I felt the taller monster help settle me onto the couch, fluffing up many cushion behind me before passing me my now lukewarm food.
" Eat up Big Pup " I smiled back at the tall skeleton, my eyes landing on Sans for a split moment. He seemed to be a little peeved about something, hard to tell since he was always smiling. Was it like a mask he used to hide his true feelings? Did he really want to do any of this after all? We all had to do things at some point that we didn't want to do. I had to do a number of acts of the streets just to keep myself going. Busking, stealing but never murder. That is where me and the skeleton differed. His crimes were more serious then mine, leaving blood soaked footprints wherever he went. I turned away, Lil' Pup looking back at me with a look of merriment. My smile softened, placing some food on the plate for the child who graciously accepted my offer. I watched with bated breath as Papyrus opened a window, letting the smoke from Sans' cigar float away like balloons in a warm summer breeze. The short skeleton just chuckled lightly, picking the child up as he passed. They seemed happy in the arms of the skeleton, laughing just like any other child would with a parent or best friend. Perhaps things were not so bad after all.
" So, shall we be headin' out? " Papyrus turned to his brother, a questioning look on his bony features.
" Where to brother? "
" Just a lil' walk, give our new friend 'ere a lay out of the city "
