It's now during the night, all I've done is toss and turn as I think about Joe. The last time I spent this much time thinking about a guy was a long time ago and I'm certainly not gonna let myself get hurt again! I walk through to the back patio and look out at the night sky. I try my hardest to not wake up Nikki who is my flat mate as well as being my best friend. I feel guilty that I  hasn't seen much of since our  girls night out. When Nikki wakes up, I'm going to tell her about today with Joe. First. I need to go back to bed and try to get some sleep.

Early the next morning. I awake to the sound of the Backstreet Boys playing in the kitchen. I yawn and stretch out my muscles before heading to the bathroom. I do what I need to and join Nikki who is still listening to the same music.

'Hey babe. Nice to see you stranger. Want some toast?' Asks Nikki who seems to be rather jolly. I'm curious as to what's woken her up so early and got in her cheery mood. She notices that I haven't stopped smiling despite me still yawning my head off. She raises her brow as if to ask me what's going on. 'I'm good. That guy who I met the other night, I bumped into him yesterday and I ended up spending the rest with him. God, Nikki. I really like him. I'll miss him when he goes back home!' I frown at the thought of not seeing him again. 'Katee, from what I saw, he couldn't keep his eyes off you!! Have you done the deed with him?' Half shocked but not completely, Nikki is very unpredictable so you never know what she's gonna say next or do. I shake my head no. Thankfully she doesn't try to push me. One thing I've learned is to not rush into things.

My phone bleeps. A message from Joe reads... Hey K, looking forward to seeing you today. I'll pick you in two hours. First, we'll stop at that diner. Then you decide where else afterwards. See you soon baby. Joe.

Wearing my black jeggings, vest and cardigan; I await for Joe to arrive which should be any moment. I feel giddy with excitement at the thought of spending the afternoon with him again. Dropping my lipstick out of my hand as I place everything in my handbag, I'm startled when I hear the doorbell ring. I hear Nikki shouting out to me to answer it as she's in the bathroom. I stand up and turn to look out of the window to see if it is Joe. My, what a delight he is. He smiles and I gesture one minute to him. I hear Nikki say 'enjoy yourself babe, you deserve it and should I unlock the door ready for you later?' Oh. I hadn't even thought about staying out late, never mind all night. I reply that I'll message her to let her know.

'Hey, you look lovely Katee. You hungry?' I nod and we leave. He takes my hand as we walk. I'm so glad his hand is warm as it definitely feels a little cool outside. Thankfully we soon get to the diner. As always, I order the same as I do any other time. 'So, what is it that you do for work?' Joe asks while we eat our food. 'I work within the social media. Doing things like YouTube, Instagram and so on. It's fun, I enjoy it. You said you're an singer/actor, do you enjoy it? I know you said you've been doing it a long time, but I guess the novelty can wear off over time.' His face lights up as I see him thinking about his job. 'I do love it, yes. Baby, I'm lucky to do what I do and for as long as I have. Definitely helps having a brotherhood/workman ship with the guys that I've grown up with. There are perks but some downsides. I try to make the most of it as it can all end in an instant. Have you done your job a long time?' Hmm I try to hide the sadness so that it doesn't change the mood. He shifts slightly and gently strokes my left shoulder. 'It's okay Joe, I was a dancer but I had to give it up. It's took a long time to get to where I am and I'm proud of how far I've come. A lot of the positivity is down to my best friend, Nikki. It gives me purpose doing what I'm doing now. Life has to keep going forward.' I see his shoulders relax as he listens to what I say. I snuggle up closer to him.
