The flash was blinding and the boom was deafening. when the shock wave hit, it destroyed everything, skyscrapers and small homes alike. a young black haired boy stood watching the mushroom cloud entranced, he had no idea of the destruction it would bring.
when the blast wave reached him he was thrown in th air and shook all aroud. he was sliced and bruised. when he noticed a warm pressure on top of him, it was his mother. She had thrown herself on top of him to save her son. then he heard a sickening gushing and metalic screeching and he blacked out
he saw something dripping from his mothers mouth. it was warm as it splashed against his face. Blood, he thought. He tried pushed her off of him and sit up but something was pinning them down, he rolled over on his right side and heard a snapping sound. He was finally able to push her off of him although it caused him great pain over at his left side and right below his ribcage he saw it, a small metal pipe hadimpaled him and the boy had broken it off by rolling over. Hhalf was impaled deep in the floor and the other half was still in his mom. Why? he thought. what did i do to deserve this? I should be at home playing video games not sitting here watching my mother die.
"Jack," she said in a barely audible whisper, "live for me jack, you must survive. Don't let my sacrifice be in vain, i want you to make a home and have children. you must promise me that you will survive."
"I promise mom. i will survive even if for no other reason than to keep my promise."
"You're a good boy jack." He could barely hear he now. "I love you." was the last words she ever said fir on that day her life left her.
