"Alright, Beth-a-saurus, time for bed." Puck announced as he shut off the TV and picked up the four year old, placing her on his hip.

"But I wanna watch Mickey!" the little blonde whined as she laid her head on Puck's shoulder, thumb finding its way into her mouth; a sign that she was about ready to fall asleep.

"I know, bug, but it's time for bed. You can watch Mickey and his friends tomorrow after you get ready for school." Puck assured and Beth just nodded as they ascended the stairs and walked into her room, laying the toddler down on the bed while making noises like a spaceship landing.

"Aaaand, we have landing." the older man said in a deep voice, making the girl giggle as she was tucked in tight.

"Song or book tonight?" Puck asked. It was their nightly routine for Beth to have one book or a song before she went to sleep.

The four year old sat up and tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Book." she finally decided, smiling to show her small white teeth.

" 'If You Give a Mouse A Cookie'?" Puck checked to make sure that was what she wanted, it had been an obsession recently; having read it every single day for the past two weeks he was hoping she was tired of it too.

But his question was met with a happy, "Yes, daddy!" so he walked over to her tiny bookshelf and grabbed the book before situating himself in the light pink and white rocking chair beside her bed.

Opening the book, Puck started reading, "If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. . ."

Beth's eyes started dropping and Puck knew she would be asleep soon.

Boy was he wrong.

Midnight is when the girl fell asleep, midnight.

Well, midnight, three reads of 'If You Give a Mouse', two bathroom breaks and a cookie for Beth, then she was out.

And Puck was left exhausted.

If Beth didn't go to bed when she did, Puck had half a mind to let her stay up so that Quinn can deal with her and Puck could go watch the new episode of 'American Crime Story' that was sitting in their recording list.

But it didn't come to that, thankfully, so Beth was snoring softly in her bed and Puck was on the couch, bag of chips in his lap as he watched the main character shoot three people and aim a gun at the fourth person's head muttering something that was too low for the volume the TV was at for him too catch it.

Raising the sound a bit, he rewinded the episode when the front door open and he heard the all too familiar sound of Quinn's heels across the wooden floor, making their way into the living room.

"Hey, baby," Puck greeted voice quiet, eyes not moving from the screen as he was trying to find the spot he couldn't hear. "Beth just went to bed literally an hour ago, can you believe that? I don't know what they're giving to her at that pre-school but it sure seems to keep her awake."

Normally, when Puck starts a conversation like this, Quinn would slip off her heels and settle on the couch; snuggling against her husband and they would continue to talk about Beth or each other's day. But right now, she was just standing in the living room not saying a word.

"Q? Is everything okay?" Puck asked, now concerned. TV paused he looked up to see her cheeks red and puffy with tear stains. His mind went to overprotective husband mode.

"Quinn? Sweetheart, you're scaring me. What's wrong?" he questioned, standing up and wrapping the short girl in his arms , pressing a kiss to her forehead and rubbing the small of her back.

Her breath hitched like she was about to cry but instead words came out of her mouth, words he didn't expect at all.

"I'm pregnant."

At those two words, Puck's worry went away almost completely. He smiled. "That's great, Q!" then he remembered the stained cheeks. "Why are you so sad about that?"

"Because you idiot," she pushed away from his comforting embrace and raised her voice. "You knocked me up again! This is my second child that wasn't planned, shouldn't that be addressed?"

Puck cringed at the volume of her voice, praying it didn't wake up Beth. "Yeah, sure, but this time we're actually together and happily married. And we're having a baby. Shouldn't this be a good thing?" he was utterly confused as to why his wife was upset.

"Yeah, it'll be a good thing for you." she sneered at him. Her voice was cracking, on the verge of tears. "You'll be bragging to all your guy friends about how you knocked up the same girl you did in high school and-and." she was crying now, taking inhales after every word. "And I'll be here, getting fat and being moody." she sobbed.

Bingo.

"Q. . ." he sympathized, going in to hug her but the glare she sent made him take a whole step back. "Being moody's okay, normal actually. And you're not getting fat per se, you're just carrying a child. Our child. It's beautiful if you think about it."

"How is me getting swelling legs, having bladder problems and getting ugly, beautiful to you?!" she cried, wiping the tears that were on her cheek.

Puck was lost. She didn't really care about that stuff when she was pregnant with Beth, why the sudden change?

"You're probably just going to find another pretty girl like you did before and forget all about me." she confessed, sniffling.

Oh. Oh

"Quinn, baby," he wrapped her up in his arms again but stood his ground when she tried to wriggle away; until finally, she stayed still. "That was in high school. I was young and stupid, albeit hot, while not having my morals straight. I will never leave you just because you're getting fat. I'll never leave you, period. You're gorgeous, and I'm so excited that you're pregnant." he leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips.

Quinn sighed into the kiss and fluttered her eyes shut when he parted, leaning her head on his muscular shoulder. "Promise?"

"Cross my heart and hope to die. I'll be here every step of the way."

Before either of them could move this emotions fest to the couch, Quinn covered her mouth and ran to the downstairs bathroom, flinging the door open where Puck could hear her throwing up in the toilet.

"And so it begins." Puck sighed, but a smile was on his face as he went to go get his wife a bottle of water, washcloth and some Puck lovin.
