"Mommy, come ooon." a very energetic Brittany whined as she jumped up and down. "The classroom is right there!" she exclaimed, pointing to the door that was no less than 15-feet away from them.
"I know, sweetheart." Whitney sighed as she looked down the opposite direction of the hallway . "Darn. . . your fathers in the bathroom and he's missing your first day of first grade."
"I can tell him about the amazing time I had when I get home but I actually have to go first." she said, now getting impatient.
"Okay, okay." the taller blonde finally gave in as she crouched down to the 7-year old's height. "You just-you have fun okay?" she told her daughter, tucking a piece of hair behind her little ears. "If there's any mean people, you tell one of the teachers, alright?"
Sassily, Brittany rolled her eyes. "I know, mommy. We went through this a bajillion times. Can I go nooooow?"
"After you give me a hug."
The little girl took no time engulfing her mother in a hug. "I love you." she mumbled into her neck. This would be the longest she would be away from her parents, but she had to be big girl and big girls don't cry.
"I love you too." Whitney replied as they broke apart. She handed the girl her backpack (a pink one with a unicorn wearing a sweater on it) and planted a kiss to her forehead. "I'll see you later. Daddy and I will pick you up and I'll make sure he doesn't go to the bathroom." she winked.
Brittany giggled and put the backpack on, both straps on her shoulder. "Bye, mommy!" she said waving and skipping to her class, passing by other parents who were saying goodbye to their kids as well.
Whitney watched as her daughter walked into that room care free, she hoped the girl made friends. Though the sweetest thing, she was a bit odd for some people and prayed the other kids saw it just as her bubbly personality. She wouldn't know what to do with herself if her little Brittany got bullied.
Shaking off the over protective mom feeling, she turned away from the classroom and sought out to find her husband.

"What even is that?" a voice sneered from in front of Brittany's desk.
The blonde looked up and was faced with a little boy with a smug face, she frowned. "A cat." she explained. "What did you draw?"
They were doing a 'get-to know your classmates' activity where you had to draw two things that were important to you then later tell the class. Apart from her parents, the second most important thing to her was her cat, Lord Tubbington.
"My game system." the boy said smugly. "Not some stupid cat. Who's important thing is a animal."
Brittany gasped. "You said a bad word!" she exclaimed, eyebrows furrowed. "And my cat is not, that word." she said carefully. Her mom and dad always said she was never allowed to say the s-word, it was bullying and it hurt other people's feelings.
"You think stupid is a bad word? Well you're stupid for thinking that." he laughed as her lip started to tremble but she couldn't cry, even though it hurt getting called that.
Before she could call the teachers name, someone spoke up from behind her. "Well I think the drawing looks amazing." the voice said. Turning around, Brittany saw it belonged to a girl a couple inches shorter than her with black long hair that was tied in a ponytail.
"Of course you think it looks amazing, Santana, you're just as stupid as her." the boy said pointing to Brittany and laughing to himself.
"Stop saying that word," Santana growled. Despite her smallness, she was fierce in Brittany's opinion. "Leave her alone, Brett, she's not bothering you. So what if her favorite thing is a cat, at least it's not ugly like you."
The kids around them 'ooo'd, some even giggled. Brett just scrunched up his nose in disgust and hit Brittany's box of crayons, making it tumble down and have crayons of many colors spill out onto the desk, "Whatever," he told them, clearly annoyed, "There's too much cooties over here anyway." he glared at the pair before walking back to his own desk.
In shock that he actually went away, Brittany didn't register the fact that her coloring utensils spilled until she saw the girl bend down to pick them up. She quickly mocked her position to help.
"Thanks for sticking up for me," the blonde said quietly. She wasn't used to people talking to her, let alone sticking up for her from people like Brett. "It was really nice of you."
"You're welcome," Santana replied, standing back up with all of the crayons that fell onto her side and started putting them back in the box. "Brett's a butthead so don't listen to what he says. You're cat is actually really cool." she smiled.
"Thanks!" the taller girl exclaimed happily, putting her crayons away too. "His name is Lord Tubbington and he gets into a lot of trouble. Especially with watching stuff on my mommy's and daddy's computer."
"Hey! My daddy gets in trouble with my mommy for watching stuff on their laptop too!" Santana said, sitting in the seat next to the girl. "Mommy always tell me to go outside and play so I can't hear her yelling, but I do anyway. She yells really loudly."
"Mine too!"
As the blonde closed up the crayon boxes Santana asked, "You're names Brittany, right?"
"Yeah! Like the singer only with two T's." she recites, holding up the fingers like she does it all the time.
"Cool. I'm Santana." the shorter girl smiles. "You want to play with me outside and eat lunch with me?"
Brittany looked shocked. "You. . . want to sit and play. . . with me?!"
"Um, yeah? Is that okay?"
"Yes! I want too, it's just no ones ever wanted to play with me before. . ." she responds sadly, picking at the hem of her dress.
"Well, I'm gonna change that." Santana announces firmly. Inching closer to the blonde and hooking their pinkies together. "From here on, we're going to be best friends forever and ever until we grow old and wrinkly like my grandma."
While the wrinkly part didn't sound too appealing, Brittany glanced at their intertwined pinkies and thought how awesome it would have a real best friend. She smiled brighter than the sun at the other girl, squeezing their pinkies before bringing them into a side hug. "I'd like that very much, Santana."
