Cas p.o.v
Oh no. He already dislikes me. I knew I shouldn't have messaged him myself. I should have just left it to Gabe to sort the plans out with the younger Winchester...
"Here you go Castiel. One double cappuchino, a large on the house and one jumbo blueberry muffin. Did I interrupt you two?" Charlie looks innocently between Dean and myself.
Before I can even stammer an excuse, Dean gets up and leaves. His shirt lifting slightly, revealing a slight pouch, as he grabs the keys to his beloved Baby. He looks good. Good is an understatement. He has eyes as green as apples, freckles splattered across his face I could spend hours counting. Even his pouch attracts me...I have it bad but he'll never see me in the same light.
I sigh.
"Hey, Castiel. Are you okay?" Charlie asks. Concern very much evident on her face, cupped with wild red hair. Shibit. What should I say? I can't tell her l'm as gay as they come or that I can't seem to get thoughts of Dean out of my head.
"I am alright, thank you Charlie"
"Sure you are you gumdrop. I can see a fellow homo when I see one. Plus, you've been staring at the spot Dean was at before I interrupted whatever thoughts were racing through your head." Charlie states matter-of-factly. Oh no. Crap.
I can feel my cheeks heating up. They're probably cherry red by now. "uh...I have no idea what you are talking about Charlie... I'm not a homosexual if that's what you are implying." She continues to stare at me. What if I offended her?
"Not that there's...there is a problem...with you know... being homosexual" I stammer.
She continues to stare at me. She isn't believing me. Hell, I'm not believing me.
"How did you know?" I ask, defeated. Her faces lights up.
"I have a great gay-dar Cas." She says, motioning to a seat as she takes one herself.
"So gumdrop. You have a crush on my Dean" She states.
"Your Dean?" Castiel. You are so stupid. Dean and Charlie are dating. That's why she's going for supper. You.are.so.incredibly.stupid.
"Yes. My Dean...Dude, you're even more red than before!" Charlie says, laughing at me.
"I'm sorry..." I say softly, "But shouldn't you be more upset since I obviously have a crush on your boyfriend?" I say, steeling myself for the tongue lashing that is surely to come. Charlie continues to laugh, with even more gusto now than earlier.
"Wait. Wait. Hold on a second," She says, gasping for air.
"Dean and I are...we aren't a couple Cas! He is like a brother to me."
I squint.
"Dean, Sam and I have been friends for about 7 years since he jumped my poor Beatle on my first day of school when I moved here. Before school actually because it was pouring with rain and of course my smartie decided to die on me. Anyway, so he saw me trying in vain to start her up and he stopped and just took over, saving the day. We've been friends ever since." Charlie explains.
"So you two are not dating?" I ask for clarification.
"Oh Goddess no! I'm into you know: boobs and other female anatomy... I'm gay dude. And besides, Dean is so far in denial it would never work out anyway. His longest relationship over the last 7 years has lasted..." Charlie scrunches her face in the effort of shifting through 7 years worth of memory, "2 months."
"Oh." I state simply.
"Judging by your entire reaction I'm judging that you however, are not in denial about what really gets your candle lit." Charlie says, wiggling her eyebrows at me.
"Uhm...You are correct. I am gay...and so is my brother. That is actually the reason why we moved out here." I say. I do not know this woman but feel I can trust her. She feels sincere, warm and open. Such a good change compared to mine and Gabe's recent interactions...
Her eyes soften "Castiel."She tries to hug me. My body stiffens.
"I am so sorry" Eventually Charlie lets me go.
"Did the two of you move out here because your family wouldn't accept you?"
"My father and brothers accepted my...our...condition but my mother and sister's did not share the same views. There was a huge fight when I finally came out to them. My mother threatened my father with divorce if he let me stay under the same roof as the rest of the family. She was afraid I would corrupt the rest of my sibblings. My mother grew up in a rigidly conservative Christian household. Gabe has always been slightly curious and defiant and came out to support me, even though he is 10 years my junior. But instead of tearing my family apart, I decided to leave, Gabe decided to join me. But I think it was more to spite my parents than anything else" I explain. My chest feeling lighter than it has in days.
By now Charlie's eyes are brimming with tears. She tries to hug me again. I let her.
"Castiel! I had no idea. I'm so sorry! My coming out story is just plain embarassing and boring by comparison. I cannot believe your mother would kick two of her sons out! How are you guys going to get by? Do you need a job? You are welcome to work here if you want, I don't mind at all." Charlie rants.
"That won't be neccessary Charlie. I got a transfer to the Angel & Demon Accounting up the road from here actually," I say as explaination. "Actually, I do have to go. It is not my first day but I need to go in and check that everything is in order before I go home to finish unpacking. Gabe is bringing Sam over to study so I will have to make something for us all to eat"
"Oh. In that case. Let me give you my number so that, you know, we can text and become besties." Charlie explains, grabbing my phone and inserting her details without asking permission. "And here, take a pie for dessert. It'll help you win Dean over!" She says, busily packing a freshly baked pie into a decorated box. She can't see my blush, thankfully.
"Thank you Charlie. For everthing" I say, gazing into her eyes for a second, before averting my eyes.
I'm leaving the cafe' on my way home to drop off the pie before I loop around to go into the office. So I know a few more things about Dean Winchster now:
1. He is not in a relationship with Charlie
2.Charlie is gay
3. Charlie and I are going to be great friends
4. Dean apparently loves pie
5.Charlie firmly believes that Dean, too is gay
6. I have a large crush on Dean Winchester.
