Dean p.o.v
"Heya Bobby! You were sent to us from the fairies!I'm so glad you here man. "
"Yeah, looks like ya really working hard boy." Bobby says, eyeing the situation: me eating pie on the sofa while Cas is bent over the desk of papers.
Sidestepping her husband, Jody enters the office and extends a hand to Cas. Her signiture black spikey hair tinted honey by the evident island sun. "Hi Sweety, I'm Jody. Just ignore my husband. He got bitten in the ass so he's just grumpy."
Blushing, Cas takes Jody's hand: "H-hello. I'm C-castiel Nov-vak." Pulling Cas in by his hand, Jody replies: "Pleasure to meet you." Once she's let Cas go, she turns to my waiting embrace.
"Hey Jody, I missed ya. Couldn't have left Bobby on the island to die?"
Chuckling, "You and I both know damn well, he would have killed everything in a 50 km radius if I didn't stop him."
"If you just left me to kill the damn thing, I wouldn't have been bitten women!" Bobby says, exasperated as he shuffles over to his desk, grabbing the bottle of whiskey as he sits down.
"Ya wanna repeat yourself bud?" Jody asks, her tone stern as she glares at her husband.
"Nothing, nothing Jodes" Bobby mumbles taking a swig of whiskey as he looks at the sticky.
"Anyhoo, we better get going. Go pick up the boys ya know." I say sheepishly, trying to get out of the line of fire.
Smiling at me, Jody asks, "Boys?"
With a huge smile on my face, I look over to Cas and see him blushing feintly. "Yeah, Sammy's dating a senior. Cas's brother Gabe."
"He found someone! That's great." Jody says.
"Glad ya idjits found fools stupid enough to date ya."
Grabbing Cas' hand I drag him towards the door. "Thanks for that Bobby. Cas lets go before Bobby convinces you to break up with me."
Climbing into the car, Cas makes himself comfortable, staring out of the window. Hotel California by the Eagles start playing and I turn the volume up. Drumming my hands to the beat on the steering wheel, I allow the music to transport me to a trance zone.
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night.There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
'This could be heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the wayThere were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them sayWelcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face.Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year) you can find it hereHer mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forgetSo I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'we haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty-nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say""I didn't know you listened to Classic Rock?" I say, glancing at Cas, seeing him singing along.
Turning to face me, I'm once again taken aback by the electric blue orbs that seem to look into my soul. "Hotel California was the Eagles 5th album, released on Decemember 8th,1976. Won a Grammy Hall of Fame award and remains one of the most influencial classic rock songs of all times." Cas says, completely at ease. A small smile on his mouth.
"It is like reading Brom Stoker's Dracula. It is a classic, written before most of our great grandparents where born, in 1897. And yet it is still part of the set-work books for creative writing today. The complexity of the human condition hasn't changed. We are still obsessed with life, immortality and sex even if the way we go about it has changed."
Wow. He is amazingly insightful. I would never have made that connection. Hell, I've never even read Dracula before.I watched it as a kid though when Mom and Dad were out one night. All I remember from the movie was the hectic sex scene. In my defence I was like 11 and Bobby was asleep already.
I park Baby infront of the highschool and see Sammy towering over the other students. His arm slung over Gabe's shoulders as they head towards us. He looks happy. Happier than he's been since Mom died.
"Hey Guys. Glad to see you took the day off Cas. You deserve it." Says Sammy as he waits for Gabe to climb in the back.
"It is all thanks to you Sam. Thank you." Cas says solemnly.
Gabe interjects, "Gee thanks big brother. Lets just ignore all mine and Dean-o here's help."
"Yes, but Sam was the person who thought to send it in." Cas explains, glancing at me. I send him a reassuring smile as I pull out of the parking lot.
"Thank you Cas but Dean's the one who mentioned you were burned out, and all I really did was hack into you accounts and mail it to the relevant people- turns out our cousin Adam is your PA. I'm sorry about hacking into your things though." Sammy rambles, becoming slightly flustered as he remembers hacking is technically an illegal act.
"No need for apologies Sammy! You got shit done and got Cas freedom for the day." I say, uncharacteristically enthusiastically, "Wanna go grab some pie and coffee? Or do you nerds have homework?"
"Actually," unwrapping a cherry red lolly, Gabe answers, "Sammy and I here got excemption from classes for the next few days because I'm charming and my lovely boyfriend here is a genius."
Looking at him through the rearview mirror, I ask: "What does that mean?" I don't like his tone, why does he sound so smug?
"It means, I submitted all our paired assignments in advance...since we already did it because you two kept on loping us together so that you can have more Destiel time." Sammy says, shrugging.
"And I convinced the teachers to give us free till next week. SO we basically have a five day weekend bitches!" Gabe says, a huge smirk on his smug face.
"So you two were actually working?" Disgust in my voice as I park Baby.
"Yes dude. We both need to pass thanks. I'm not planning on letting my grades drop because I'm in a relationship. I refuse to be a statistic Dean."
With a mock hurt face, "Feeling the love Samoose!"
"I, for one, am happy that they are doing so well." Cas says, headed towards the entrance of Bake 'n Byte.
"Well look at what we have here. Squirral, Moose with little Cas...and a midgit."
