Claire's POV

The light falling through the glass was cloudy and grey. It was silent around me and I didn't dare to break that by moving.

A door swung open and warm candle light floated into the room. The shoes clacked on the wooden floor as she walked through the rows of white duvet beds. She stopped in front of me.

Where was Tim?

Ana was beautiful as ever even though she seemed a little tired. She went beside my bed and sat down.

Her body tensed but on her face broke a warm smile, something, that was the real Ana again.

I had her back.

"Claire" she whispered. "My dearest Claire. Are you feeling better now?"

"Yes." I smiled back. She bend down and embraced me.

Her warmth was real, she smelled like Ana, like sugar and mint.

"Claire, there's something I have to tell you. It's really serious."

"Why so fast? I have you back!" Tears spilled out of my eyes.

The nymphs gave her back to me. They gave her free and she returned to me.

There was no need to worry or to rush anymore. Everything was fine. Ana was back.

While I smiled, Ana seemed to panic. Her eyes were restless and all her muscles were ready to jump up and sprint for her life.

I rubbed her back, trying to sooth her but she didn't listen.

"Get dressed. We have to go, as fast as possible."

She handed me some clothes and shoes and turned around.

"Ana," I asked, more worried because of her behaviour now. "What's up?"

"The war is coming. The neighbor kingdom, Ava, is coming for Lennart and for my lands. We have to go, as soon as possible."

"Lennart? The lands? Ana, I don't get it. What the hell happened?"

"Lennart killed a man, back in the settlement. Don't ask. I planned a war against Ava, when I was possessed by... You know... Back when I was ruled by the nymphs. Somehow we have a traitor in our rows. We have to fight. Quick. Well, actually fighting is not what we'll do, but the others. This land is mine and-"

"No. It's not yours. And we don't have to fight. Let us talk... There will be a solution for all that. Just-" I stood up and reached for Ana's shoulder. "Let me try, please. There don't have to be war."

"Nice try, but no. There's no other way."

"Love. You remember what Love is? Dreaming and caring. Lennart has the order to make war, but you're the opposite. Oh I learned so much now. Ana, this doesn't have to happen. It's Lennart's fault that this war is happening. He's doing his job and it's his destiny."

A second time the door swung open and a dozen guards guided by Lennart and Daphne stormed inside.

"They reached our west border. The first villages are burning. They reach the castle in one hour. We'll attack now."

"Get dressed" Ana said and ran out of the room, the men and Daphne following her.

As quick as I could I got dressed and was out of the hospital wing.

The castle was a complete mess, but even though the war had arrived in front of the halls it was never more beautiful and friendly here.

Ana was back and that's all that counts. There's no sense in any more blood, I thought.
