Okay so a long time ago- in the other book- I posted an alternate universe I called Haunted AU. No need to read more about it, because I'm just gonna write and you'll see it as it goes along!
I know in the description of it I wrote 'Not that angsty' butttttttt
Third Person
Cody didn't sleep much after the night of the invasion, nor the day after. It didn't matter that it happened a day ago and there was nothing he could change- or that it was better for Atlantis now. All he could think of was what he did.
All he could see when he closed his eyes were the glowing, yellow ones slowly fading before his eyes. Cody could still smell the blood on him, and the sickening sound Joe's sword made when he pulled it out of him.
He remembered KrakenKid trying to say something, but a more inhuman sound came out. It wasn't any better than if he cursed him with his dying breath.
Cody breathed out shakily, sinking deeper into the blue sheets of his bed and curling into the blanket. So badly he wished he could stop thinking about it, or to stop feeling guilt like Professor kept telling him, but he couldn't. All of it burned into his mind until he couldn't even function.
Rasmus had noticed and tried his best to console him, but in the end, Cody pulled away from it all. He couldn't do this. He just couldn't. Not for a while at least.
His brown eyes closed, and he just focused on controlling his breathing.
Cody lost track of how long he was doing it because suddenly, a chilling feeling closed around his throat. He only shivered at first but soon enough, not even his penguin feathers could handle it and he shot up, gasping for breath. His eyes bulged open in surprise. He blinked when he noticed he could see his breath. Just how cold is it in here?
"A shame. Looks like I really can't touch you, Penguin." Cody's blood turned to ice, making his insides even colder than his throat had felt. He knew that voice. He heard it a million times before, almost always in that same tone. Scolding him, teasing him, screaming at him- always that tone. The nickname was the cherry on top.
His eyes snapped around before noticing the figure hovering above him. Floating effortlessly, no need to swim. He knew who it was but he looked so different that it was like seeing him for the first time.
His body was still just as long as before, but now deathly pale. His eyes glowed black, no other color or pupil in them. He still had scratches and injuries all over him, but the most prominent of all was the hole in his stomach, where a broadsword had once been. The blood was the only thing that made him not completely monochrome, dripping to the floor, then disappearing.
He grinned broadly, a sharp set of teeth presenting himself. Not a friendly smile, but rather the same type that a shark would give when he found his prey. The type that made Cody feel so very small, and frightened to the point where no words would leave him.
Different looking, yes, but Cody knew who it was nonetheless. After what seemed to be an eternity- one where the other was getting increasingly more amused every second he stayed in shock- the King found the words to speak.
"KrakenKid..." Barely even a word, spoken so softly that Cody wasn't even sure if he said anything. His only confirmation was the satisfaction on the Tide Changer's face when he heard him.
"You..." Cody took in a shaky breath, trying to speak up. "You're dead."
KrakenKid couldn't hold back from laughing. It sounded distorted, almost like he was hearing it three times at once, and one being delayed and another through a damaged radio. When he stopped, his black eyes locked onto Cody's. "You're not wrong." A smirk played on his face. "Sorry to disappoint you, I know how hard you worked to get rid of me. To make sure that you'd never see my face again. But things change."
