So I was taking a break for a while because school was getting rough but a little while ago, I started getting really stressed out and in the process, sat myself down and started writing about super heroes and villains and ended up with the Silver Lining characters and plot.

For more details about the characters, you can find both Dark Matter (Villain) and Genesis (Hero) in my OC Closet book thing.

But it's not required at all. You'll learn plenty about them.

Third Person
Janus Harrison, also known as Dark Matter, thought he was a rather good villain.

He certainly had the attitude for it. The snarky charisma, the sly smirks and charms, oh and don't even get him started on his evil laugh. That was absolutely perfected. He got it down years ago and even gave tips to new villains when he heard their pitiful attempts.

Not to mention he was powerful. Energy manipulation wasn't an easy power to come by. As soon as he showed off his skills and powers to the world, the nearest villain agency scooped him up in a heartbeat and Janus- now Dark Matter- had nothing to worry about.

His greatest rival- and if he was being honest, his favorite- was Genesis. A hero with the power to create using only his hands. A young man with narrow, silver eyes, shaggy black hair and a face he could never read.

They had fought many times, and though he hated to admit it, Dark Matter lost most of the time. He often got to wrapped up in being around Genesis that he forgot he should focus on his evil plan instead. He just loved to hear his nickname from him. DM. Nobody else called him that. It was special.

He couldn't help it though. Genesis was captivating. It wasn't his fault he was sent to fight a brilliant man like him.

Janus never thought it would be his downfall.

That is, until there was a gun to his head as he was bruised and beaten in an alleyway and being told they would give him a head start. He bolted as soon as he was free too but he didn't feel safe. Janus felt like a rat in a maze and his chest twisted.

His usual overdramatic, all black outfit was in pieces. Torn in several places and blood soaking into his clothes. His lip was busted and his eyes were puffy. It took effort to speak and while he tried to use his powers, he reached his limit a hour ago. There was no way out but running.

So he did. Janus ran through the maze like the frightened, little rat he was and prayed someone would have mercy. They were in the bad part of the city so chances were, they would see him and turn the other way. Getting in the way of a villain could mean they would get hurt, and people knew who he was. Janus flaunted he was Dark Matter since he earned the title. He had hurt so many of them. Now, Karma would show him no mercy.

Janus neared the end of an alleyway, hoping he would reach a street soon when he got knocked flat on his butt when he ran into someone. The other was sprawled on the pavement as well but got up faster than he was expecting. A young man with black hair, blue eyes and blue rimmed glasses who stared at him.

Janus slowly got up, showing his hands. He tried to ignore that they were shaking. "I'm not here to cause trouble! I'm just passing b-Y!"

His words choked out as the man lunged, grabbing one hand and pulling it behind Janus' back. He soon snatched the other before Janus could even react and he heard a familiar click.

Handcuffs. Janus gulped. I don't remember him having them, where did they come from?

Then Janus reminded himself that there was a bigger problem at hand. Where he got the handcuffs didn't matter as much as that Janus was now in them regardless. With the instincts this one had, it would take at least half his power to break away. Janus barely has a sliver of it.
