Okay so this is connected to 'I understand the demons you see' and the Dissolve Gang

I really need to finish their character profiles

Anyways, enjoy!

Third Person
Eta Carinae was totally fine at first.

Catalyst and him were both sent for a surprise attack mission. Atom used specific pairings for different situations.

E.C. And Titanium was rescue team. Omicron, Fusion and Catalyst was an all around team. Just Omicron and Fusion was for fusing purposes. Titanium and Catalyst were defensive. But Eta and Catalyst? Pure destruction. Their objective was to obliterate the enemy and leave nothing behind.

The hideout was a wooden cabin. Inconspicuous, sure, but now that they knew where it was, it became a coffin.

Both had entered subtly, then took down soldiers left and right until gathering anything useful and finishing it off.

But, clean up was the problem. The cabin was so big and had underground areas that just the both of them combined wouldn't be enough. Catalyst took extra measures.

Eta waited for him at the entrance, then the smell hit him and his head spun. Sudden flames danced in his mind and he couldn't breathe, smoke filling his lungs every time he tried. Everything and everyone was burning and he just couldn't breathe-

"Expo, you ready?" Eta shook himself, holding his breath to try and block the smell out. Catalyst gave him a look, eyebrows raised. "I filled the halls with gasoline. Should be enough to burn this place down."

Gasoline. E.C. was choking just thinking about it, but carefully controlled his breaths, he gave a fake smile. "Ready as I'll ever be." A bold faced lie but Catalyst didn't know it. E.C.'s hands trembled but he tried to ignite a flame.

But then Catalyst started putting it around him and he couldn't do it. He started to hear sirens in the distance- Catalyst did too and turned his head- but Eta's knees gave out and his stomach lurched.

Eta started to vomit, making Catalyst almost yelp in surprise and ask what the hell was going, then he heard the sirens getting closer.

"Blondie, we gotta g-!" Catalyst didn't finish as Eta suddenly burst into flames, tears streaming down his face before evaporating. He started speaking incoherently before throwing up whatever he had left and tipping over.

Eta lost consciousness as soon as he felt Catalyst grab him and hoist him over his shoulder.

————

Eta drifted in and out of consciousness as the strong arms ran with him. He was too tired to move but his eyes managed to open for a second.

Catalyst skidded to a sudden stop as one of the police cars caught up, pulling over and two of them getting out. They shouting things but Eta could barely hear them.

He was on the ground, Catalyst propping him up against a tree. "Stay." The wildcard murmured, even if he hadn't noticed Eta was awake at all. "Rest." He commanded again, then turned on the two cops.

Fire ignited in Catalyst's hands and Eta was gone again.

————

Eta dreamed of fire and smoke that suffocated him. He couldn't scream without feeling like he was going to cough out his lungs.

"My Gem!" A sing song voice reached his ears and when he opened his eyes again, all of it was gone and he could breathe again.

Panting, he started to look around before a lone woman stood before him, with a face he couldn't see. "There you are, I was getting worried." The voice spoke again. A smile seemed to form on the woman's face, though he still couldn't see her eyes. "You can't keep running off, I have things I still need to teach you. Do you remember what I said, My Gem? It's very important."

Eta opened his mouth but no sound came out. There was grief in his heart as his mind spun, remembering exactly who she was now. Miss Hestia! He tried to say. She smiled like she could hear him.

Her image became more clear now. Fire red hair and warm brown eyes. She wore a dress with flowery designs and pink lipstick. Always pink lipstick. Eta wasn't sure why he burned that into his mind but he did.

The woman took a step towards him again. "It's so nice to see you again. You've grown so much. Do you still remember? It's so very important."

"Im...Portant." Eta breathed, blinking.

"Remember what I said about Unicorns?" The woman tilted her head. "It's so very important. Very, very important. Do you understand? You have to remember. It's so very important..." She kept repeating herself like a broken record until it all was gone in a flash.

————

When E.C. started to stir, Catalyst spoke, loud and clear. "Gasoline, huh? Ironic for a pyromaniac."

Eta's eyes flickered open to meet Catalyst's blue one. His arms crossed and he was sitting by his bedside. Somehow, he managed to get him back to the base and into their makeshift hospital.

Eta groaned, sitting up but was soon pushed down, a strong hand kept on his chest. "Uh-uh, nope. You freaked out less than an hour ago, I don't trust you to stand." His singular eye examined him closely before squinting. "You mentioned you were like me before. Is that one of your triggers? Gasoline?"

Eta nodded, gulping slightly. He didn't expected to talk about this so soon but he owed an explanation. The fires still danced in his mind, as did the woman. "Do you remember how the Boss found me?"

Catalyst nodded. "Street rat. Orphaned and alone."

"Exactly. I'm, uh... I used to live in an orphanage. But there was an accident-"

Catalyst interrupted, having an idea where it was going. "You burned the place down. Because of gasoline."

Eta gulped again, not responding directly. That obvious? "I was seven, and I watched as everyone- friend and foe- burned down in that building. My caretaker, that grumpy janitor, the bully kid, my best friend- none of them survived. Except me. Barely, I nearly choked on the smoke before firefighters helped. They tried to put me in a new orphanage but nobody understood it was my fault. I wasn't going to do that again- I just ran. Decided to live on my own where I couldn't burn anyone."

Catalyst nodded slowly while listening to the whole thing. There was an odd glint in his eye that he couldn't explain. "And now you can't stand the smell of gasoline. Also explains why you'll never use propane or anything else like it."

Eta sighed, letting his body go limp. "Yeah. That obvious, huh? Just feels like I could burn anything I touch at any moment." His mind wandered back to the woman in his dreams.

"My Gem, I want you to remember something! Some people are like unicorns! Especially your soulmate!"

"Unicorns? I don't get it."

"Like Unicorns, they're a rare breed and hard to find, but they're beautiful. They'll be some of the most important people in your life. Don't let go of a unicorn."

A flicker occurred in Catalyst's eye and he lifted his hand off of E.C.'s chest. "Not everything can be burned." Catalyst let fire ignite in his hand before it disappeared. "You can't burn me, not even if you tried."

Eta couldn't help it. He laughed. He laughed with relief because that was a Catalyst comforting attempt if he'd ever see one.

He could've sworn Catalyst was smiling for a moment there before getting up, and it was gone. "Well, you're fine now so I got to go report to Atom-!"

Eta Carinae grabbed the sleeve of his jacket without thinking. They stood there for what felt like forever before he whispered. "Don't go."

And Catalyst sat back down.

I've had that for a while but I finally improved it so here you go!

I like working with my Dissolve characters so hopefully that was entertaining! Be sure to comment what you liked or thought because writing takes a lot more time than reading and commenting does and I'd realllly appreciate it! Farewell!
