Death- Horsemen!AU Part One

I made a new AU all thanks to a small comment from Iceshard1011 that somehow spurred into this. It's an apocalypse setting where everyone is against each other.

They're all human in this AU! Because they're humans, they're gonna have human names. KrakenKid is Kai Kraken, CannibalCrab is Carl Crab and Blooper is Bryce Kraken.

Though, this particular chapter focuses on two people.

Third Person
Kai Kraken was in extreme pain, but still alive. That's all that mattered.

He pressed himself against the mountain as the attackers left, finally allowing himself to gasp in pain and hold his side. His usual short, brown hair was now matted and his black jacket was stained with blood, both his and some of his attackers.

Kai wasn't surprised they were attacked- after all, it was a world where only the strongest survived with all technology gone and war damaging everyone. No, they got attacked regularly. He wasn't expecting for that big of group, or for them to lose.

He glanced back at the battlefield and nearly threw up in his mouth. Everyone else was dead and looted for their valuables. Their simple raid for more supplies had hurt them more than anything, and now Kai had to get home. Alone, and in pain. Where home was at least a day away if he kept walking.

This was going to be a long journey.

Even so, Kai slowly got to his feet and started to move away from the mountain and towards the surrounding forrest. His eyes trailed back over to his group and felt a heavy weight in his heart. He knew one of them well: Larsa, an old friend for as long as he could remember...

"I'm sorry, Larsa." He whispered, straightening up with fire in his eyes. "I won't let you die in vain. I'll get out of here and get back at them." Kai whispered, then started to limp away.

The sun was going down and Kai still had a long way to go. He had patched up the large gash in his side from the attack the best he could, but he was no medic. It hurt like hell and made it hard to move. He almost didn't want to, but he had to keep going. He had to make it back.

However, as the sun disappeared from the sky, Kai supposed he could have a little rest. He set up a small one-person fire and found himself fast asleep in the blink of an eye.

Kai slept well and fairly long. He woke up ready to continue on.

But Kai also woke up to find he wasn't alone.

A figure in a long, dark cloak stood on the other side of the camp, watching him. He was male, just as tall as Kai himself and had dark brown eyes. His hair was jet black and rather messy. He was silent and wasn't hostile, but Kai got a bad feeling just by looking at him.

Kai growled at the newcomer, getting up and grabbing the small blade he had on him- one of his only possessions. He pointed it straight at him, but kept at a distance. "Who are you? What do you think you're doing?" He took a single step forward when he stayed silent, then winced. Pain shot through his side, and he held his bandages with one hand. The other spoke.

"I'm not going to hurt you." His voice was like frost spreading across his heart, chilling every inch of him from the inside. He pulled back his hood, further revealing his face. It was like he was trying to show him he was human, though Kai didn't know why. "I'm simply waiting."

"Waiting?" Kai echoed. Something about this guy made him uneasy. Like his very presence made him want to run, and if he were in better health, he would've already. Silently gulping, he narrowed his eyes and took another few steps forward. He refused to show the pain that nearly consumed him. "Waiting for what?"
