Chapter 39: Sighting

i'm actually really happy i kept writing this story... because this morning, it hit me. i basically know how i'm going to end the story and what will lead up to the ending! thanks to everyone who talked me out of deleting this... honestly i would've regretted it and i now that i know what i want to do with this story, i'm so happy. thank you! :D

"it seems we have a confession" Nathan smiled.

"what are you doing?" Peyton hissed.

"doing, what i should've done a long time ago."

"you're making a huge mistake" Peyton hissed again.

"what do you remember from that night?" Nathan asked, as he sat on the desk.

silence. 

"i see, why don't you kids leave us alone. maybe she would feel more comfortable if you left" Nathan suggested.

"you're so stupid, why are you confessing?" Peyton yelled.

"you don't control me anymore, i have a voice and i'm going to use it" she repiled, as she turned to Hunter. "i'm so sorry, but i'm not the reason you're here, but i'm going to tell Nathan everything i can recall from that night" 

"thank you" Hunter mouthed.

she nodded, and turned to Nathan. "i'm ready to confess"

"they're taking a long time, do you think they're okay?" Sam asked, as he held Karli.

"i'm sure they're fine" Connor assured, as he heard footsteps down the hall.

"Hailey" Jc smiled, as the others followed her.

"hi" she smiled softly, as she took a seat next to him.

"wait? where's Lia?" Ricky asked.

"god, she's so stupid!" Peyton hissed, as she hit the wall.

"hiding something?" Jace asked; suspicious.

"No" Peyton shot back.

"where is she?" Jc asked.

"she's telling him, everything she recalled from that night... god she's so stupid" Peyton rolled her eyes.

"she's doing the right thing, Peyton!" Hailey argued, as she stood up. "and as soon as Lia walks out, i'm going to do the same thing."

"me too" Jace agreed.

"god, all of you are so stupid" Peyton laughed.

"my brother's in jail, for something he didn't do... i, along with all of us want to know who did this to him" Hailey argued.

"and what makes you think one of us betrayed him, hmm?"

"i don't, i just know that the truth will come out" Hailey assured.

footsteps grew closer, we looked up to find Lia walking and talking with Nathan. Hailey smirked at Peyton before she and Jace began walking towards Lia and Nathan.

"YOU ARE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE!" Peyton yelled.

Jace turned around and flipped her off before turning around and began walking again. Nathan saw them approacing and smiled. "Yes?"

"I want to confess" Jace nodded.

"Me too" Hailey agreed.

"Lia go take a seat" Nathan nodded to her, as she walked past them and into the lobby with the others.

"Jace, i'll talk to you first" he smirked, as Jace walked past Nathan and into his office. Hailey was about to walk away when Nathan grabbed her arm. "I wanted to talk to you last, since it seems Peyton will not be speaking up anytime soon. I promised you i would find out what happened to Hunter that nigt, and i won't fail you" Nathan whispered.

"I know and i trust that you will" Hailey nodded before returning to the lobby.

an hour or so passed before, Jace strolled out of Nathan's office. Hailey stood up, as Jace approached her and gripped her arm. "tell him everyhting... everything you can remember. the more you tell him, the closer he'll get to finding out the truth" Jace released Hailey and started to walk towards the lobby.

"you love him, don't you?"

he stopped walking and whispered, "i do" before he proceeded to the lobby.

Nathan walked out of his office and noticed Hailey. "come on in" he smiled, as he opened the door for her. "take a seat, get comfy"

Hailey walked into his office and took a seat. "so, let's get started, what do you remember?"

~Hailey's POV~

"let's begin shall we?"

"so, i was at my friend's house that night/ but there are a few things i recall from that night." i started to explain.

"and?"

"my brother has had drug issues in the past. he usually got his drugs fromt he docks... he knew a guy. anyway, he was clean for a few months, and he went to the docks that night to call the deal off. he didn't want to be part of the deal anymore. he was going to the docks to do the right thing, not to get more drugs"

"i see, anything else?"

"he told me he saw someone else there... while everything happened"

"who?"

"he saw, Lia before he blacked out"
