He turned to me and looked at me with a sad expression whereas I just gave him a blank one. "What's up?" I asked him. He gave me a confused look before we continued to walk. "Carter McCoy Reynolds." I repeated his name quietly even though he could hear me. "Very posh." I complimented him and giggled.
He rolled his eyes and shrugged playfully. "So what's your full name, Charlie?" He said, looking directly at me. Charlie? Who's Charlie?
I looked at him and raised my eyebrows. "My name is Charlotte, not Charlie. Anyways, my name is Charlotte James." He looked at me and nodded, a small smile appearing on his face. He stopped walking and sat down on the sand. I followed in pursuit and sat down next to him.
"So what do you enjoy doing?" Carter asked as he picked up sand and began playing with it.
"Just having a laugh and hanging out." I shrugged. "Just different things, what about you?" I asked him.
"I enjoy making people laugh and just being with friends in general." He spoke. I turned my attention to the sea infront of us. The water came up to my feet and I flinched due to how cold it is. "How old are you?" He asked.
"I turned sixteen on August 16th." I shrugged and looked around the beach. I took the flannel shirt off and placed it on the sand beside me. He nodded and looked at me. "What?" I said curiously, slightly smiling.
"You have a beautiful smile." He says. My cheeks begin to heat up and I know I'm blushing. I bite my lip and look away. "Sorry." He said looking down. He stood up and put his hand out. I took it and stood up. I picked up my shoes and we began to walk up to the pier.
"I'm so hungry." I laughed rubbing my stomach. I slipped my converse on and wrapped the flannel shirt around my waist.
"Let's go get something then." Carter said as he began leading the way over to a set of cafes. I shrugged. I caught up with him and we walked over into a small coffee shop. I breathed in the deep scent of coffee. God, I love that smell. We headed over to the counter.
A male barrista turned around to serve us. He gave me a charming smile. "What can I get for you?" He asked, slightly leaning against the counter.
I rolled my eyes. "Can I have a ham sandwich and a espresso please?"
"Yeah sure." He continued staring at me. I looked up at Carter and he looked at the barrista in annoyance. He fake-coughed loudly, grabbing the barrista's attention. The barrasita looked at Carter in annoyance. "What?"
"Make it two espresso's. Pronto." He said, raising his eyebrow slightly. The barrista stepped back, slightly intimidated by Carter's tone of voice. He turned around and began collecting our order. I couldn't help but chuckle. Carter looked down at me and smiled before putting his intimidating face on again as the barrista turned back round.
"Here." He said, placing the drinks and my sandwich down on the counter. He pressed something in to the cash register. "That's $8.90."
I pulled $10 out of my pocket and handed it to him before Carter got any money out. He frowned when he saw me handing the money over the counter. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "Here's your change." The barrista said, placing the money in my hand.
I put the money in my back pocket and handed Carter his espresso. I took my drink and sandwich before we left the shop. "That server was a douche." I said as I attempted to open my sandwich with one hand. "Can you hold my drink please?" I asked Carter.
"Sure." He smiled and took the espresso off of me. He had a sip of his as we walked down the path. I opened my sandwich and took a bite before getting my drink off of Carter.
