The rest of the afternoon I had stayed at Jake's and it felt really good to. It had been so long since I had last spent a full day with him and I had missed it like crazy. Jake was so exciting and thrilling to be around. He made my heart sing whenever he smiled at me and I knew I's always get tired out from all the activites we'd seem to be doing. I wasn't much of a nature person, but hanging out in the woods with him didn't seem to bother me. Which I counted as bonus.
"So how long has Embry been a part of the pack?" I asked Jake as we neared a small clearing of pine needles. I stepped over a large trunk and just as my foot reached the next one it slipped and I nearly came face to face with a chunk of dirt. That is before Jake grabbed me and placed me into his warm body.
"As of a few weeks ago". Jake released me and I dusted my knees off. "He's not the only new one to join Sam's little following".
I sighed. From what Bella had told me it didn't seem to me like Jake and Sam had gotten along much. I really didn't know much about Sam or really the pack for matter, but I did know Jake and if there was something about Sam that ticked him off I would be there for him.
"Sounds to me like you don't particularly like Sam". I said hitting at it. Jake stopped walking and sat down on the trunk that I had nearly fallen off of. She placed his hands upon his knees.
"Its not that I don't like him, its just-"
Jake hesaited and I knew something was nagging at him.
"It's just what, Jake? You know you can tell me".
"I know".
"Well then what is it? Are you and Sam rivals? Or is there some wolf mating territory thing-"
Jake stared up at me and bursted out laughing. I rolled my eyes at him.
"No no its nothing like that". Jake brought relief to me as I let out a sigh and walked over to sit down next to him.
"So there's no mating territory stuff?"
Jake grinned and put his arm around me.
"No Alex. You're the only one for me".
"Good". I stated while leaning forward to kiss him. "But then what is it?"
Jacob sighed and looked away from me.
"Jake is it really that serious?"
"Sam is the pack leader, but he wasn't the pack's first choice for leader". Jake finally said opening up to me. I raised an eyebrow.
"Then who was?"
"I was".
Jacob was considered for pack leader?! That's insane, and such a big deal.
"Then why aren't you?"
As soon as I had asked that I wanted to take it back instantly. Talking about who was going to be the pack leader seemed to be making Jake irratied and that was the last thing on my mind, but I wanted to know the full story.
"Because I didn't want it", Jake stated looking up at me. "My great great grandfather, Ephraim Black was the original La push pack leader. His blood ran through my veins and so I was the obvious choice. Sam took pack leader when he first phased and later once I phased he offered the role of pack leader to me, but I refused. I wanted nothing to do with them and all the leadership crap. It wasn't something that I wanted".
Letting out a sigh I brushed a strand of hair away from my face and sat down beside him on the tree log.
"Jake you may not want it now, but knowing you, you may change your mind".

My panic mode has increased in the last 24 hours and I was now completely a wreck. Four days had passed since I had last since Jake and today was the day that would change all of our lives.
It was graduation day.
And I was on edge. I had gotten now sleep last night and getting ready for it was a nightmare. Bella seemed to be already while I still had to get dressed and fix my hair. I rushed into my room from the bathroom. Reached into my closet for my dark blue dress, pulled it over my head and adjusted it in front of my mirror. Then I took my hair brush and nearly took all my hair out trying to get the brush threw it. It was days like today that I hated having long hair. All the tangles and messy bed head days were the worst of all. Especially today.
I had woken up with the worst bed head and I could tell right away that it was going to be one of those days for sure. After I had finally brushed threw all my hair I quickly curled as much of it as I could. Then I raced down the stairs and slipped on my black heels just as Bella was getting into Charlie's police cruiser. I dashed after my sister, shutting the house door and got into the car as dad started the engine.
"For the late start you got you look good, kiddo". Dad chuckled pulling out of the driveway. I flashed him a wonky smile and laid my head back against the back seat.
"I'm sure Jacob will like that dress". Bella grinned glancing back at me in the passenger mirror. I rolled my eyes at her.
"Did you invite him?"
I nodded at Charlie.
"Glad to hear that you two are talking again". I smiled looking out the back window. Yeah, so was I dad.
