CRESCENT (Alex X Jacob #2)

Chapter 7

Pulling my knees closer to my chest I let out sigh and watched the stars in sky. Since coming to Forks my life had been turned upside down from finding out that my best friend now Bf was a werewolf and that my sister was dating a vampire. To now learning that a new born one was hunting both of us.
            It had only been an hour since I had learned that and I was still in shock. This whole situation was cray. Insane really. How the hell were we going to defeat these things? From the way Jasper describe them they sounded impossible to kill. I just wished that I had stayed back in Arizona sometimes. Espcially in situations like this one.
      Finally I swallowed back my fear and anger and headed away from the Cullen's balcony to the living room where everyone was waiting. Esme, Edward's adoptive mom smiled at me and handed me a cup of water. While I didn't completely trust the Cullen's Esme was really the only one that I didn't dislike. I was still distance from her, but not as much as I was with say Edward or Jasper.
     "Thank you". I said as I took the cup from her slender fingers. She smiled and something inside me melted away. I smiled back at her and perched myself in the corner nearing the others, but still at a safe distance. Even just being here at their house made me uneasy. But I wasn't about to let them know that.
"Glad that you could join us once more, Alex". Carlisle said softly. I nodded. It was still so strange to see someone who looked only a few years older than Edward leading this family. It was even stranger to find out that Carlisle was a doctor here in Forks. I wasn't sure as to why they would hire a vampire to work at a place that had blood everywhere? But then again if my sister could be fooled then so could half the doctors at the hospital.
     "I'm only here for my sister. If her safety wasn't important to me then I wouldn't be here". I replied as he tried to smile at me.
    "Bella's safety is gravely important to us all as well". He said. Some how I was not so sure of that. Looking over at Jasper I couldn't help but utter a growl in my throat. He was the one who had nearly killed my sister last year and though Bella had forgiven him I was not going to. Nor was I going to forgive Alice for holding party. This whole damn family knew that he was the newest member and yet they just let my sister just come over without no thought to what could have happened. I just shook my head, ignoring all the conversations, as I could feel Jasper staring back at me.
   "Then its settled". Carlisle said standing up. I popped out of my thoughts. "We will take shifts watching over Bella and Alex". This was not happening. There was no way in hell that I was being watched by them.
     "Another protection program, really?' Rose groaned making me smirk. Finally someone on the same page as me.
     "Rose, please". Rose's boyfriend Emmett pleaded with her. I just rolled my eyes at all this.
     "I will take the first watch tomorrow night". Jasper said offering first. I shook my head and reached for my jacket from the chair.
    "Jasper I do not think that is a good idea". Alice said.
    "She's right. I'm not letting you near me or Charlie". I stated firm. Carlisle sighed and glanced over at Emmett.
    "On it". Emmett said flashing me a smile. I rolled my eyes at that. While I was not too keen on having another Cullen at the house, if it would keep me and Bella safe then me being on edge was worth it to have her safe. I sighed and walked over to my sister.
    "Alex I-"
    "It's pretty obvious that I did not like you or your family Edward, however, I'm willing to tolerate you all if it means Bella's safe. Her safety is all that matters right now". I stated. Edward smiled and glanced down at Bella. I knew that me trying to work with them would make her happy, but I just hope that she didn't think that it wasn't to going to last. Because it sure as hell wasn't going to.
   "Thank you, Alex. We will protect both you and Bella. To make you feel comfortable we will keep Jasper away for the time being". Edward said. For once he said something that I could smile about.
"Thanks Ed". I said with a smile. Edward slightly raised his eyebrow making my sister laugh.
    "I'm calling you Ed and that is not changing".
   "I see'.
Bella smiled. "We should be getting back". Edward nodded and followed us to his car.
This time riding with Edward wasn't as bad as before. I still didn't trust them, but I had to start for they would be here more often than before. And that was something I would just have to get used to.

I managed to find some writing time in between breaks.
