Chapter 21

        When Cody dropped me off, back at Charlie's he could snese that I wasn't really okay after everything that had just gone down, but he also didn't want to push me too hard. He had decided then to leave me to be alone and as he walked off the porch and back into the woods I almost wanted to bolt off that porch and follow him. Beg him to stay to tell me that everything was alright. That I was alright...however we both that wasn't going to happen.
If I was honest with myself I wasn't really fine. Every since that night I hadn't really been fine. I mean I had accepted that both Jake and the Cullen's were not human...but this whole new born army shit..well that made me just question everything.
I loved Jake. That I knew was true and right with my life. The Cullen's world well...that was all new to me and after all this I wasn't so sure that I was ready for it all. Especailly if Bella was soon going to be apart of it. Edawrd didn't have to tell me. I already knew. When Bella had yes to him she knew that she was sealing her fate. She knew that she had basically said yes to becoming a vampire and I knew that too.
Her being one of them. Joining their family or...coven or whatever sent a gulp down my throat and an uneasiness down my back. While it was true that I liked the Cullen's now..having my sister become one was...strange to me. I loved Bella and I wanted her to be happy, but that fact that she would stay young forver and watch her whole family die, leaving her behind...it seemed more cruel then anything.
Letting out a sigh I pulled my hair out of my face and stepped back inside. I then made my way up the stairs to my room. I hadn't really gotten much sleep that night before, but now that things seemed to be getting back to our new normal I laid my head down and beagn to let the darkness overcome me.

"Alex...wake up!". The loud voice rang in my ear
Rubbing my head I slowly opened my eyes.
What the hell was going on?
And what time was it as I noticed the dark sky outside my window. Damn it was night already. How long had I been asleep for?
"Alex!!!" The voice barked again. Turning my head I found Seth standing bared chest in my room. Cheeks flushed red I threw a pillow at him. He dodged it without a care and in doing so I noticed the stern upset expression painted across his face.
No.
I stood up hair a mess and grabbed him by the shoulders.
"Seth...whats wrong?"
Seth sighed and coudnlt bother to meet my eyes. Dammit what was wrong? What had happened?
"Please just tell me!" I begged. '
"Its Jake-"

The drive to Jake's felt an eternity. The whole ride I couldn't focus on anything, expect Jake and if he was going to be okay. Seth resaurred me that their bodies healed fairly quickly, however that did no good to bringing me comfort. My head kept getting filled with all these what if questions. What if Jake didn't make it? What if he wasn't able to use his arm ever again? My mind was not resting and I just wanted everything to stop.
Part of me just wanted to close my eyes and rest, but I knw I coiuldnt now. Seeing Jake was much more important then getting rest. That was fact. I had to make sure that he was healing. To make sure that he...was really okay.
Even before the truck came to a complete stop I kicked opened the passenger door and jumped out. Hearing the doors of the truck slamming behind me I bolted straight for the door. Before making it fully to the door, Carlisle removed himself from the house with his medical case. Moving his golden eyes up he nodded to me.
"How is he?" Billy questioned his enemy. Carlisle placed his hand on Billy's shoulder, much to Paul's distaste.
"He will be in pain for a few more hours, as the healing process begins. However I gave him some morphine for the pain". He spoke softly as I approached them both. Billy looked up meeting my eyes and reached for my hand.
"Is he-"
Carlisle sighed. "He is very much awake and asking for you, Alex". I bit down on my bottom lip and let go of Billy's hand. Carlisle nodded for me to go on in and I did. Moving throughout Jake's house I couldn't find it in myself to speak. It was just hours ago that he had been safe and unhurt and now...he was in pain...and there was nothing I could do. Stopping in Jake's doorway I cupped my hands over my mouth and just let the tears roll right on out. Jake was nearly laying still on his bed, left arm all banged up and in a sweat. He was in pain...deep extreme pain. Approching him slowly I noticed his eyes shift open barley and his stared back at me.
