Chapter 18

        The brisk wind sent a shiver down my back jolting me awake. Rubbing my eyes I noticed that I was the only one left in the tent. Feeling still warm from jake's body heat I re adjusted my hat and unbuttoned a few buttons of my jacket. Then I made my way out of the tent to find that Seth had joined us. Cody seemed to have vanished but I just shrugged my shoulder. The snow crunching under my boots signaled to both boys and Seth turned around.
"Hey Alex". I waved back and sat down between them. As I glancing between then I let out a groan.
"What?" Seth questioned me.
I sighed.
"You know its really hard to try stay warm when your both nearly naked". I stated which uttered a burst of laughter from Seth. Jake smirked, wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close to him.
"I can make you feel warmer if you'd want".
"Get your mind out of the gutter, Jake". I replied rolling my eyes at him then nudging his arm. I then let out a sigh and within a few seconds the atmosphere had changed. All of us knew that the battle was pretty much here and that made everyone on edge. Wrapping my arms around myself I closed my eyes and just wished that this could all be over soon.
"Alex may I talk with you?" I didn't need to turn my head to know who that voice belonged to. Edward stood a few feet away from us with Bella close by. I let out the breath that I was holding in and gazed at Jake who didn't seem eager. Before I walked away from him I reached over and pulled his cheek to my lips. Then I mouthed that ill fine and strolled off with Edward.
"Am surprised that you agreed to talk with me". Ed stated as we kept on walking through the Narina like winter scene.
"I don't hate you anymore, Edward. I'm not your biggest fan, but Im-".
I let out a sigh then smiled up at his pale perfect face. Against the white snow his skin nearly melted away into it.
"I know. You are trying to find compassion for me and my family and I appreacite that very much, Alex". Edward said. Just then he stopped dead in his tracks and turned to face me. "However I feel as though what I'm about to tell you will change that". I raised an eyebrow at him. What was he talking about..?
"What are you about to tell me then?"
Edward let out a sigh, or whatever thing that vampires did to get something off their chests.
"A few nights ago, I asked Bella to marry me".
WHAT
OH MY GOD.....
"And she said yes".
I couldn't breath
I couldn't talk
I couldn't seem to gather any of my thoughts
"I know that you do not think that I am good for your sister, however I love Bella, Alex. She is my world. My life and I will do everything in my power to-"
"Stop Edward". I couldn't breath.
Edward had proposed to Bella. My sister.
A vampire had asked a human to marry him.
"Alex-"
I shook my head and brought my hand up to my face as tears streamed down my face. Bella why didn't you say anything to me? Why did you keep this from me? Was I need that important to you? Was I not good enough to know?
"When?"
Edward looked away.
"When is the...wedding?"
"We haven't set a date yet".
I wiped the tears from my eyes and finally caught my breath and sat down on the nearest rock.
"Does Jake know?"
"No. And we would appreacite it if you did not tell him. With the battle coming we didn't want his mind to be-"
"Clouded. Got it". I said with an attitude. I shook my head and got up from the rock. Edward and my sister really did seem to have poor timing. And when I was just starting to get along with Edward and his family.
"You know you should have waited to tell me too, cause right now...well wasn't the best time as I'm already on edge. Now if you don't mind-" Before I could finish my sentence both Jake and Seth turned the corner. Both of them were on egde and I knew that they were here. My heart skipped a beat as my body grew colder. Jake looked over at me and then he stepped forward pulling me into his arms.
"Alex-"
Trying to push what Edward had told me out of my head I nodded it and pushed my lips to his. He pushed his back and wrapped his arms around me tightly. I knew that it was time for them to leave, but I couldn't find in me to let Jake go. He pulled away from me and kissed my forehead.
"I love you, Alex. I'll see you soon".
"I-I love you too, Jake". I replied. "Stay safe. Both of you". I said glancing at Seth. He nodded at me then to Jake. As both of them took off down the mountain they soon phased from man to wolf and within a few seconds they both disappeared from my sight. I couldn't hold back the few tears that had begun falling from my eyes.
"I am linked to them, Alex. If anything goes wrong you will know". Edward stated trying to reassure me. I nodded my head not bothering to meet his gaze as Bella moved from her fiancé to sit beside me. She put her hand on my shoulder.
"I guess Edward told you".
"He did".
Bella sighed. "Im sorry that I didn't tell you I just-"
"You just didn't want to piss me off". I stated raising my voice at her.
"Alex that's not-"
"You know Bella I was just starting to tolerate them. Maybe even like them, like him". I pointed to Edward, "But now...well I don't know how I feel".
"I just need time. It's a lot to process. Heck I'm still trying to process my boyfriend going to fight an army of newborn vampires..."
"I know. Will give you time. I don't want to put any more on your shoulders. But Jake's going to be okay. I know it".
"Alex Jake just got their". Edward stated just as he turned his head to the left just in time to notice the crumbling tree coming towards us. Edward jumped in front of us and grabbed the falling tree with his bare hands and sent it flying in the oppsite direction. Bella pulled her self in front of me and frantically over at her fiancé. Looking at them both I could sense that something was wrong. Something in Alice's vision, in our game plan had changed, but what.
"Edward".

Next chapter is the battle! Also for lack of updating. I've had two massive art projects due. Being an art major can be tiring.
