Bailey leant back against the lockers with Drew by her side, flicking through Ryan's magazine; something he put together every year of notes he found in random places. She smirked when she saw a huge page of what seemed to be a poem, her eyes scanning over it quickly. She nodded with pursed lips, it was impressive.
'Yo, Ryan,' She called when the blonde boy walked past; 'Are these my Chem notes?'
'If they were in the bin, probably,' He replied as he flaunted on past.
'Dude, these were in the bin. At my house.'
'Were they?'
The girl her head as he cocked an eyebrow at her, causing her to hit his shoulder with the magazine. Ryan merely laughed as he waved at her over his shoulder, leaving her to turn back to Drew.
'Hey, you good?' She asked as she looked over his face.
'I don't know,' He sighed; 'I feel guilty.'
'For?'
'Really?'
'De, come on. It's been three days, Jeff and I are cool. And we did it not just for you but because it wasn't there anymore.'
'Cheer up, my friend,' Jeff added as he wrapped his arms around their shoulders; 'We just won State. After this Pep Rally, no more school until after summer.'
'Yeh, bullshit,' Bailey chuckled.
'Come on, man. Two days then the rally, then we're outta here for the week.'
The Matthews girl stepped into her english class, the boys continuing up the hall without any notice she was gone. She walked in and took the spare seat behind Jess, leaning out of it to join the conversation between Jess, Courtney and Marcus.
'It's her writing,' Jess whispered; 'I can totally recognise it.'
'Why would she write something like this?' Courtney asked; 'So humiliating.'
'It has been brought to my attention that Ryan's publication now includes poetry,' The teacher interrupted them, sending them to sit properly; 'And since we're doing sonnets this semester, and since you're all going to be distracted by it anyway, I thought we would take a minute to parse the work of this poet.'
Marcus fake coughed, 'Hannah.'
The small part of the class that heard him laughed, their teacher pausing for a moment before she continued.
'There's a sort of naked vulnerability to it that I like. It's quite intimate,' She continued causing the class to laugh once more; 'Intimate is not a dirty word... Today I am wearing lacy black underwear for the sole purpose of knowing I am wearing them. I've got skin, miles and miles of skin. I've got skin to cover all my thoughts like Saran Wrap.'
