AUGUST

~

Bailey tapped her pen against her workbook as she stared at the clock hanging on the wall, fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes until she was officially done with summer school. Until she could go down to that football field and fully complete practice. She sent a glare to Monty when his hand slammed down over her pen, sending her a pointed look before he grinned.

'Bitch,' She muttered.

'Whore,' He replied.

She grinned, flipping him off as he winked at her.

'You coming over this afternoon?' He asked as he dragged his chair over.

'Montgomery, please return to your own desk,' The teacher sighed.

'Nah, I'm all good, Miss.'

'Montgomery.'

'Miss, he's cool. Leave him be,' She sighed.

'I asked him to return to his desk.'

'And I asked him to stay. Seems we're in a bit of a predicament.'

'Miss Matthews if you have a problem, maybe Principal Bolan can help you.'

'I mean, if it gets me out of class early so I can go home.'

'That seems doubtful, Bailey.'

'Whatever. But, my boy here is staying put.'

The teacher rolled her eyes, letting the teenagers do as they pleased. Monty chuckled lowly as he threw an arm over her shoulders, looking back to her.

'So?' He pressed.

'We have training,' She replied.

'After?'

'Maybe.'

'You're Mum being a bitch?'

'When isn't she?'

'Better reason to get away.'

She cocked a brow at him, 'If I say yes, will you shut up and buy me an iced coffee?'

'Deal.'

She smiled when he kissed her cheek, before her eyes met Justin's across the room. She averted her gaze quickly, looking back to the clock. Ten minutes. She groaned, leaning her head on Monty's shoulder as he chuckled.

Sweat dripped down Bailey's spine as she panted, her shirt tucked into the back of her pants; leaving the sun to blare down on her near bare torso and tan around her sports bra. The tops of her knees hit her hands weakly as she jogged on the spot between Zach and a sophomore, Charlie St George, who'd made the team.
