SEPTEMBER
SENIOR YEAR

~

Bailey ran down the street away from the school, her bag forgotten about at the cafeteria table with the rest of the friends. She ran toward the garage, pushing herself to get there as tears threatened to rush down her face. Tony's family had been deported. He'd just received the call from the lawyers, they were gone; shipping back down to Mexico without a second thought. She darted across the road, barely pausing to see if there were any cars.

She wiped at her face when her vision blurred, shaking her head. People watched as she ran past, some concerned, others barely taking a second glance. The girl didn't slow when she reached the garage, shoving open the office door. She stopped at the sight of Tony sobbing into Caleb's shoulder, his usual cool demeanour nowhere to be found. A cry left her mouth then, Tony's head snapping up to look at her with his red raw eyes.

'I'm so sorry,' She whispered; 'Oh my, God. T-Tony.'

He stood and strode toward her, pulling her into his chest as she began to sob; gripping the back of his shirt. The best friends cried openly before each other, their immediate anger fading into grief and loss. Bailey pressed her face into Tony's chest, her heart breaking at the sound of his cries. It was rare she ever saw him cry, but each time she did it felt like she was getting stabbed in the heart.

'I love you so much, Tony Padilla,' She sniffled.

'I love you, too,' He wiped his face over her shoulder, but never let her go.

'We'll find a way. I promise, we'll find a way.'

He didn't say anything, sniffling as he tucked his face away into the crook of her neck again; refusing to let go for a little while longer.

Bailey's fingers ran through Tony's hair as he laid with his head on her chest, Caleb holding him from behind; both asleep as she should've been. But, instead she stared up at the roof through the dark, tear stains on her cheeks. She'd refused to leave Tony, and after having to lie to Zach when he brought her bag to the garage, she was stuck awake wondering. She didn't want the Padilla's to suffer, she didn't want to see them in pain. It hurt her to even think about.

She sighed softly, shaking her head as she reached for her phone as it rang. Her mother's I.D. lit up the screen, falling ignored for the tenth time that night, only for it to begin ringing again. She slowly slid out of bed, swiping her finger across the screen to answer the call as she left the office; stepping into the dark gym.

'Where the hell are you?' Maria hissed into the phone.

'At Tony's,' She replied with a yawn; 'What do you want?'
