OCTOBER

~

Bailey leant over the engine of the car, her hands covered in grease as she worked. She'd taken over for Tony when Mrs Baker had arrived out of the blue, pushing through the work he'd left behind. She glanced toward the office every now and then, curious to know what the woman wanted. But, she also knew it'd been a year since Hannah's suicide, the grave there in Evergreen and not in New York.

She looked up when there was a crash from within the office, the girl grabbing the rag beside her to stride toward the room. She pushed the open open to find Tony leaning on the back of a chair, hands squeezing it as Olivia sat helplessly on the the couch. She glanced between them, Tony's body all but trembling as he slowly looked over his shoulder.

'Everything ok?' She asked.

'Bryce's family told I.C.E. about my family,' Tony replied with a clenched jaw.

'What?'

'I think that the Walker's may have used the information the lawyers, or private investigators, found to get Tony's family taken in,' Olivia answered.

'Did you know they had that information?'

'Yes, but when they didn't use it during the trial, I though they'd just left it alone.'

'Nora Walker doesn't let anything go.'

Tony looked over his shoulder again, meeting his best friend's eye as she nodded her head; confirming whatever plan they'd come up with once Olivia was gone.

Tony and Bailey hid around the side of Chatham house, waiting for Bryce to arrive home; his rover missing from the drive. She had her jumper pulled tight around her, the house dark inside with little movement except for a room upstairs. She ducked further back behind the wall when lights came up from driveway, Bryce's car rolling by before it stopped; the engine shutting off. She stepped out of the shadows behind Tony, watching the boy get out of the car. Bryce paused when he saw them, his brows furrowing.

'Tony? Bay?' He questioned.

'What's up, Bryce?' Tony jutted his chin out.

'Ah, I wouldn't be lurking out here. Grandpa's got a gun... And he's racist and senile. So...'

'You weren't doing me a favour, were you?'

'Sorry?'

'Buying my Mustang. At twice the asking.'

Confusion riddled Bryce's features as Tony stepped toward him slowly, Bailey following behind to make sure he didn't do something he'd regret.

'You know, for a minute, I thought you were doing me a solid. That was pretty stupid, wasn't it?' Tony queried.
