APRIL

~

Bailey strode into the gymnasium, her eyes roaming over all the different stalls before her; each holding a different college or career. She waved to Drew when she spotted him by their top pick for a college, UCLA. It was their dream to finally get out of the town they lived in, and with their grades holding top competition for valedictorian against Courtney and Marcus, they were set to apply for scholarships.

'Hey, how are you?' The woman behind the table smiled.

'Good, thanks,' She smiled as she picked up a brochure.

'Are you thinking of applying for UCLA?'

'That'd be the dream.'

'What do we have to do to apply for scholarships? Or financial help?' Drew asked.

'Well, preferably the top of your grade is helpful. But we offer a variety of different options through sport and academics.'

'And how do we get in through sport?'

'I can give you a coaches number and you're encouraged to give them a call or maybe your school's coach could give them a call. Then from there you can organise game footage, a coach coming to watch a game and whatever else they'd like to see.'

The twins nodded, looking through the brochure as the woman spoke.

'Could we get the coaches for boys basketball, football and boys baseball?' Drew asked.

'Sure,' The woman nodded before looking at Bailey; 'And for you?'

'The same, minus the baseball,' She replied.

'So, football and boys basketball?'

'Yes, please.'

The woman looked shocked as she looked down and began to go through her folder, Bailey sending an unamused look up at Drew which he chuckled to.

'There you go,' The woman held out the cards for each of them; 'We hope to hear from you soon.'

The twins smiled toward her before speaking, 'Thanks.'

Bailey was the first to turn away, rolling her eyes once she was facing the other way. Drew threw an arm over her shoulders, laughing quietly as he shook her lightly. They strode toward their friends as they stood in front of a Granite Hills Institute stall, information books in hand as they laughed at some of the photos inside.

'Yo! You only have to maintain a C-minus average to play,' Zach exclaimed.

'You boys will make it then,' Drew laughed.

'Not all of us can maintain an A in everything,' Justin rolled his eyes.

'And not all of us seem to want to get out of this shit hole fast enough,' Bailey retorted.
