A rude awakening

My joints ached as my bones rattled to life. I saw the point were the dark and light meet. I took grasp of it and was brought back to life. My resurrection was during the age of triumph. After the Traveler was brought back to life by that Guardian.
I was woken up in a frozen forest. Far away from The Last City and deep in Fallen and Cabal territory.
"Eyes up guardian, we need to move" A metallic but energetic voice called out
I looked up to see a metal object floating near me.
"Where am-" my question was cut off by a Cabal artillery shell hitting the tree line nearby.
I was flung away slamming into a tree as the metal object disappeared
"I'm still here guardian just in your "backpack," we need to move. Now!" It felt as if she spoke from with in my head

I tried to stand up but my leg was torn up and bleeding violently

"Dont worry it's a flesh wound, I can handle it" The object spoke calmly as light pulsed from my wound, healing it immediately

Without hesitation I stood up and ran deep into the forest. The artillery continued to rain down but its wasnt aiming at me. Its was clearing a path for their vehicles. I can still hear their engines growl, echoing through out the forest.
Taking cover behind a rock formation, I gathered my breathe and checked myself. My clothes were of an ancient military. I had a dull knife, a small side arm with a name etched into the handle "Sage."

"I think my name is Sage... or maybe it's someone I know..."

The object hovered over it and shook his head "look Guardian, you've been dead for a while... a long while actually. Who ever Sage was, is probably dead" the object looked down with it's one glowing eye and sighed. "Those were Cabal, an alien race set on taking over planets by any means. They dont take too kindly to Guardians, you all have a track record for killing them."

"What the hell is a guardian and why do you keep calling me one? And what do I call you?" I looked up at the object and removed the helmet from my head.

"Guardians are warriors chosen to be brought back to life to fight for the light. The light is what healed your leg and let you breathe again. I am a ghost, your light conduit and distributor through out your body. When you get used to living again, I'll show you what else the light can do." The ghost lifted its vision and nodded floating and disappearing again. "If I die so do you, but if you die, I can bring you back."

"Why cant I remember anything from before coming back to life?" I sigh slightly flustered by all the information and begin to examine the sidearm.

"Ah well, I'm not sure myself. All guardian have the same issue but most have accepted it as fact"
"Let's just say my name is Sage for now." I cocked the sidearm and holstered it

"So ghost, where are the other guardians? "

"About that, they're across the planet.. in Europe. We are in north America..."

I took a deep long breathe "any quick ways to get there?"

"There are no nearby ship yards so.... we are going to have to hike it."

"Great, you'll have time to tell me everything." I sighed and pointed to the north east "this way?"

"Nearest city is actually the opposite direction but so are the Cabal"

"You are just a ray of sunshine you know that?" I groan and turn towards the direction of the city

A rude awakening if I've ever had one
