Hardly the Optimist

The immediate next day I was in the hospital. I hadn't used my light when swinging the boulders. I used my own strength, my adrenal glands were almost fully used up and my biceps were torn. My forearms had several fractures. My light was drained so I had to wait a good week before I was able to go into the field.
Ajisai was by my side for most of the process. The only time she was actually worried for me.

I was in the hospital when she bursted in and held a handcannon to my head "you fucking idiot what were you think?!" She cried out

"That's new... uh. I wasn't. Wait, why didnt you ask me this when you got to the hut?" I responded weakly but with a small smile

"You could have died!" She cried out so she dropped the gun and hugged me

I am barely able to put my arms around her but rest my head on her shoulder "I'm sorry baby. But next time you go off on an adventure remember this is how I feel"

She punched me in the rib and laughed weakly "asshole..."

"Yeah... yeah I deserve that.." I chuckled lightly

She visited every other day till I was able to go into the field again.
For the next few weeks, I'd spend my time with Ajisai, going on Strikes and hunting down escapees. When we weren't, we would be in the tower together. Eating and training.
Admittedly, it was a sort of taboo to have a relationship with another gaurdian. A close and intimate one was hardly ever heard of, but we somehow always got along.
She was the one that taught me how to be a gaurdian and I brought out a childish and joyful side of her. She even helped pick my new loadout.
My new armor was made so I could be the wall. I wore the Torobatl celebration mask, a Scatterhorn plate, the Ursa Furiosa gauntlets, ancient apocalypse grieves, and wing discipline mark. Ajisai loved to call the titans mark, bath towels.
I used the Duke and Crown-Spitzer out of respect. Lastly, I used a sniper rifle, Twilight Oath.
I didn't like the rifle but it was good enough so I didn't need to rush into battle. When an enemy got close I'd use the Duke and disperse of them.
The sword, well, it's a sword made for titans. Like hell I'm not going to jump into battle with a sword that has an explosive radius when slammed into the ground.
So we ventured into the Ascendant Plain to help the Awoken. Ajisai had a deep pride for her people even though she had no memory from her past life.
I just followed for her sake and loot. Anyway, we get to the top of a spiraling puzzle and there awaits a taken centurion, A cabal general that had been Taken.
Ajisai danced around the behemoth as I place round after round in it. She leaps over the beast but was caught. The beast swung her around and threw her towards me.
Rage
I jumped up and caught her, almost falling over the edge. She gasps for air as I placed her down and grab my sword.
"Handle the Taken Thrall and Psions" I order and charge towards the beast.
I rammed the blade into its chest then tore my way through its chest and out its side. The blade broke in half as I pulled it out.
It swung at me and knocked me back to Ajisai. As I landed I casted my banner shield and Ajisai casted her golden gun. The shield boosted her solar energy. She shot her three shots into the beast head, literally melting it.
I smiled and panted as the behemoth fell over into the abyss.
Ajisai leaned over me and laughed as well "that was smart" she patted my rear as she walked over to chest and claimed our rewards.
"Thank you" I roll my eyes with a small smirk
She bows as the portal back opens and she jumps in. I soon follow.
I glanced back at where the portal was and at the blade "this is the third time I lost something here."

"You're right, huh?" She dragged me along

"What if it's you next time?" I ask gently and hold her hand tightly

"Well then I'll be waiting for you where we end up."

She had a cheerful tone to that. It was warming to have her like this. Always the pessimist, hardly the optimist.
