Hi! This is a kinda short chapter, so I apologize. I know I am kinda speeding up the story, but I think I should. Let me know if I'm jumping into things too fast. I'm not really editing this chapter because I'm rushing to class. I will edit tonight!
I was trying to concentrate, but the boys behind me were absurdly loud and obnoxious. It was only after one of them screamed a curse word did Mr.Didin scold their rough housing.
I had looked behind me, but I knew for a fact it was the football team. I hated this class since it wasn't an AP or Honors, it was a general health class.
With general mundane people. And a general teacher who never really disciplines.
But he was pissed now.
"BOys," Mr.Didin growled, reaching the end of his patience.
The boys, however, continued chuckling to themselves like stupid idiots.
Mr.Diddin sharply gestured to someone, "Levi, sit up here."
His voice was raspy and his trembling finger now pointed at the seat next to me. The seat no one sits in because god forbid they sit next to anyone who is a teacher's pet (and fat.)
"But I wasn't--"Levi began, his voice cracking. I noted the laughter were the same as before, so, unless Levi was laughing at himself, it wasn't his voice who was talking before.
"Levi."
"I-" he tried again, but was interrupted by his friends.
"Mr. Didden," James, another play called out. "Levi was the one distracting us. Do punish him."
YOu could tell James wasn't serious and was obviously joking, his smirk and slight laughter discredited a shred of honesty.
"Thank you, James," Mr.Didden replied with an unamused smile. "I'm not blind nor deaf. I know it was him."
A few people ooohed and muttered, "burn."
James hesitated for a second before responding, "Of course you aren't deaf or blind, you are smarter than all of us."
James sounded, to anyone uneducated in the art of teenagery, completely honest. And, despite being a teacher for such a long time, Mr.Didden nodded his head in appreciation.
Silents lingered for a second as no one moved, Levi must have remained still.
"Levi," Mr.Didden snarled, taking an unnecessarily loud step forward. "Move. Here. Now."
He was startling close to me; I could feel his spit on my forehead.
I wanted to look and see what Levi was doing, but I've never looked before, so why now. Things weren't supposed to change after last week.
In fact over the weekend I heard he was the life of the party, hooked up with some girl...he is actually who they say he is.
The brown-haired boy that I had pitied for just a moment cursed.
"Fuck you guys" he seethed, yanking his backpack in a passive-aggressive way.
Everyone gasped, uttering in slight disbelief. I mean, we all know those boys curse like there is no tomorrow, but in class seemed a bit excessive.
There was silence for a moment as Levi shuffled across the room, head craned in embarrassment.
He approached the nearly untouched chair beside me. He hovers there for a moment, a few feet closer than he was last Thursday.
I could tell he was looking at me, his shadowing obscuring my vision.
Look down and shut up I pleaded my body to remain inanimate as he moved to sit beside me.
