Hi everyone! So this is an author note/ rant thing. So, for this to make sense I will tell you guys where I live but please don't ask for my address. We're fine. And I'm gonna tell you my religion, no hate, please.
But in the past 24 hours, my California city we have endured a mass shooting (a dozen college student fatalities - some which we knew.) And now massive fires that have caused my friends and family to lose their houses and/or been evacuated: nearly 210,000 evacuations, some only five minutes from where I live.
First off: the shooting shouldn't have happened...because our government and society ignore shootings, and think "oh, doesn't effect us." But when you are trying to call your friend who goes to a school near there and can't get a hold of her. Or when you see your cousin on a tv interview with survivors.....it is real. Besides new gun laws, the shooter suffered from PTSD, which, at least to my knowledge, can be helped by poper mental health treatment...which we don't have. I'm so tired of all this violence and mahem.
I am Jewish and luckily live in a community with very little anti-semitism, but then I heard what happened in Pittsburg (the shooting in a Synogogue.) I talked to a deaf member in my synagogue (Jewish place of worship) whose sister lives on the street and luckily didn't go to temple that day. But my friend didn't know that. And since she needs video and a certain system to contact her sister, she couldn't. And she was terrified. He sister is fine...but her sister's closest friends got murdered in that hate crime shooting.
And about the fires. I thank everyone in my community and beyond who have donated their services to help protect our community, probably none of you are on here.
But guys, appreciated your firefighters and first responders and doctors and people like that.
Sorry, a rant.
The objective of this rant was: since school has been canceled, I am working on some chapter updates.
Stay brave and kind.
