Rule of Zhargus Part 5

I was supposed to publish this yesterday (10.20.18) but I had writer's block lolz. Also, my internet gave up too early. What a shame, so I'll probably publish this on Monday.

Argus made his way towards the Queen's office. Having memorized the entire palace, he didn't need a guide to help him around the place.

The palace walls were standing tall and proud. Each of his footsteps on the floor made a pleasant sound that would occasionally ricochet off the wall. The sounds only stopped when he entered the Queen's office that was covered in fiber.

He knelt down and greeted the Queen.

"My Queen."

"Stand up and sit. And please, call me Alresa when we're alone."

"Understood." He said and stood up, he sat down on the comfortable chair that was adjacent to Alrensa's.

Once Argus was comfortably seated, Alrensa grabbed a pouch from a drawer and placed it on the desk.

"This,—" she gestured to the pouch, "is what you'll be having when you accept my offer. It contains 12000 thousand gold."

"What is the offer?" Argus asked, suspiciously. Such big an offer would mean a big task.

"I need you to be my brother's guard, keep him safe." Alrensa told him.

Argus looked up, shocked. Him? Guard Zhask? King? Geez, he's just gonna end up with a head without a brain.

"For how long?" He asked.

"Until you are relieved."

Knowing that the King was still a hot topic, he would surely have a lot of people trying to assassinate him.

"I know all too well how long this will be. The offer is not enough." Argus said in finality.

"23 thousand gold."

"Then it is sealed." Argus said.

"A good decision on your part, General."

*Spectating Location Status: Changed

The King sat comfortably on his throne. Everyone made sure to keep their distance from the throne, knowing well to not stay near the King.

Zhask absorbed the mana that brewed second by second outside the ship. The crew prepared the ship's system.

"Are the offensives ready? Defensives and Technicals?" Miya asked, the captain of the crew.

"It is all set, Captain." The people in charge of dealing with the mentioned systems confirmed.

"Alright. Are all the people in the medical ward present?" Miya asked. She glanced at Estes, the head doctor and smiled. He smiled back.

"Yes." Estes said.

"Quit with the attendance. It will be their own fault if they are not present." Zhask cut in, clear and sharp. Everything descended into silence until Miya worked up the courage to clear her throat and talk.

"Have you enough mana, sire?"

"Yes. Are you all ready?" Zhask asked after answering Miya's question.

"Affirmative."

"Then let us go."

Zhask lifted up his hand and summoned a portal. It appeared before the ship. A black mass swirling with raw energy. It made the crew cheer after a slight pause. It was spectacular, they were honored to be able to serve this King.

Zhask let them appreciate the beautiful scene before them for a while. After hitting the 5 minute mark, he cleared his throat. Everyone snapped out of their trance a reluctantly resumed their work.

"And in 3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF!" Miya shouted.

And indeed they blasted off. They watched their vision turn into a tunnel vision as they entered the portal. They each gleamed with their own emotion. Awe, surprise, dispense.

Miya was holding on to her terminal tightly. Sure, they made sure they wore their uniform's boots so that they won't go flying off into a wall (A/N: the boot stays stuck on the floor), but still, she still felt like she was gonna be thrown like a rag doll from the force of their speed.

After a while, the tunnel vision slowly dispersed. And out they came from the portal. The ship, from it's ultra fast speed before, stopped. It moved a few more spaces forward before stopping. The ship's nose was miles in into the atmosphere of ML2018, where the Land of Dawn resides.

"My beloved motherland, I am coming home." Zhask murmured.
