Once we arrive, we're immediately attacked by rumours. Rumours to do with people we don't even know.
I turn to Abigail and Tyler. "I didn't know they're were new kids."
"Neither did I." Abigail grumbles.
"I did. Their names are Zach, Jack, Sydnie and Ava." Tyler says. "There's also another guy but I've forgotten his name."
I blink at him, bewildered at how he knows all of this. The young boy just smiles at me and turns to walk with his friends.
"What do you think of these new kids?" I ask Abigail.
She just shrugs and we walk to homeroom in silence. Once we actually get to homeroom the noises and the gossip are just as loud as when we first entered the school this morning.
"I heard that the Zach guy is in a gang." A red head says to her friend.
"I heard that he's like SUPER rich." Her friend whispers back.
As Mr Gregors finishes registration two figures rush through the door. Ones a boy and the others a girl.
"We are SO sorry we're late!" The girl exclaims, beads of sweat trickling down her forehead.
"That's alright. Would you like to introduce yourselves." Mr Gregors offers.
"Well I'm Sydnie and this is Jack." Referring to her and her brother.
"We're twins but I'm older." Jack continues.
The twins share a look before looking back at the class. Jack's eyes scan the classroom until they find mine and he smiles at me. It wasn't a nice 'hi-I'm-new-nice-to-meet-you' smile but a 'Don't-talk-to-me' kind of smile.
I tear my eyes away from him and turn to look at his sister. She beams a genuine smile at me and I smile back. She seems nice.
The bell rings for first period and I pull Abigail towards our English class. Halfway through the lesson Jack and another boy walk into our lesson late.
"Where have you been?" Mr Matthews asks.
"Places." The other boy replies.
Jack just seems to be really bored of the conversation and even has to stifle a yawn. It would be funny if I didn't love English so much.
After around ten minutes of arguing I stand up from the back of the classroom.
"Excuse me, could you please stop being ignorant assholes and have this ego battle somewhere else. I can smell the testosterone from here!" I say angrily.
All three men ,well one man two boys, turn to look at me. I suddenly feel really small with the glares Jack and his friend are giving me.
"Listen here, cupcake. You better mind your own fucking business. You hear me?" The unknown boy says.
"Zach-" Jack starts but I cut him off.
"Listen here Beavis and Butthead." I say looking from Jack to the guy now know as Zach. "My name is NOT cupcake and will you sit your asses down because ,unless you haven't noticed, this is a school and I'm here to learn."
Zach sends daggers through my skull and Jack just raises an eyebrow at me. Suddenly I feel a tug at my arm.
"Alexus... you cant say that to them." Abigail says in a hushed whisper.
"And why is that?" I ask in mock amusement.
"I don't know. What if they're in a gang or something." She says fear clearly written all over her face.
"Oh please." I snort. "They don't even look like they'd know what to do in a gang."
The bell rings signalling the end of class and I sigh. Oh great, they've waisted my whole English lesson. And with that I was gone.
Not even noticing the hard stare Zach was giving me or the fact that Jack was indefinitely trying to kill me with his glare.
