•••"Cupcake? Are you okay?" I ask Alexus playing with her hair.
"I'm fine." She mumbles.
"No your not." I sigh.
"Zachary, I'm fine." She says.
I wrap my arms around her torso and kiss her temple.
"I know your not okay but I'm going to stop pestering you because your getting annoyed." I state, almost laughing.
"Okay, but let's talk about you... what's it uh... like to be uhm colour blind?" She asks with hesitation.
"I mean...sometimes I can almost guess the colour of something and it's kind of like seeing the world in different shades of grey. At times I can almost see colour because I remember what they look like but I can never fully see it." I explain a tear slipping from my eye.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you upset. I just wanted to understand your life better and try to, I don't know, see what your mind is like." She rambles.
"Cupcake, its okay. It wasn't your fault." I reassure her.
"Can I know what happened?" She asks.
"Well, Jack and I were in the car and he was driving. We crashed and the impact of the car and my head must've sent my nerves haywire." I say.
"And your not mad?" She questions.
"I was at first. I wouldn't talk to him for weeks but then I finally realised that he didn't do it on purpose. Jack would never hurt me on purpose." I explain.
Alexus nods her head in understanding before sitting up and looking at me.
"What are we?" She questions.
"Anything you want us to be. I'm not rushing you." I whisper.
"I don't know." She says looking down.
"You don't have to know yet." I say pushing her chin up with my index finger. "I just want you to know that I love you."She nods her head in response and places her lips on mine.
"I love you too."
