Ciel had retreated to his room with Sebastian almost as soon as he'd been returned. Now it was pitch black outside, the room lit only by a few candles on his bedside table. He held the child in his lap, as he clung to his nightshirt and buried his head in his chest.

"It's alright," Ciel murmured. "You're okay now." He assured as Sebastian whined in response, looking up at him with wide ruby eyes.

"Cell..." He whimpered sadly.

"What is it?" He asked, still holding the child close to him. He didn't want to lose him again.

"Cell, 'fraid..." Sebastian mumbled. Ciel softly brushed through the child's black hair.

"Don't be afraid, you're safe now," Ciel responded, laying back against his pillows with Sebastian on his chest. The baby settled down somewhat, and as Ciel leaned over and blew out the candles, he thought that everything just might be okay after all.

They slept soundly through the night.
