Lauren's Perspective

Liam mustn't have been far away because he arrived in almost 5 minutes. He looked at me with a worried face as he saw that I still hadn't been let in. He swiftly stepped up to the door and knocked three times. "Catherine, love, open the door please." His frustrated frown deepened when there was no reply. He pulled out a key and swiftly let us in.

My worry grew as we discovered that she was nowhere to be seen. Liam started to search for her as I stood dumbfounded. I prayed that for her sake, she hadn't done anything stupid. As Liam continued his vivid search into her bedroom I got the strange sense that something was definitely wrong.

As if driven by some unknown power, my feet carried me straight to the bathroom. I screamed for Liam when I saw her laying immobile in the tub. He tumbled in and covered his mouth. He rushed over and pulled her out onto his lap.

Her lack of response panicked me and I felt sick, as if it was something physical that I was feeling. Panic gripped me as I ran over, kneeling beside her unconscious body. I placed my ear to her chest and heard the faintest of beats. "She's still alive!" I exclaimed.

Liam pulled her into his chest and cried. It was so hard to see a grown man cry, especially one who had been hurt so terribly before. My own tears blurred my vision and spilt over my cheeks. We had known each other since we were TINY! I couldn't bear to see her go, not like this. I whipped out my phone and dialled the ambulance.

As I explained our location, Liam was whispering to Catherine, begging her to wake up, to open her eyes. "Liam, you have to do something. The medics won't get here in time to save her." His bleary red eyes stared up at me, helpless.

I carefully took Catherine's limp body from him and placed her on the floor. I steadied my hands over her chest and said a silent prayer, hoping and praying that, against all odds, I could bring my best friend back.
