Ch.12
We rode in silence, Lauren drumming on her steering wheel and me staring out the window. "Where did you get this car?" I asked her, bored. "The airport, Of course." I groaned. "Are you kidding me? This is exactly what I wanted! Mini coopers are adorable!" she grinned at me. "So, tell me, what happened last night?" she winked at me. "NOTHING!" I said, blushing.
"Liar! I come in, there's no one around and your door is closed. Do you think I'm stupid?" I sunk down in my chair, hiding my smile. "It was...good." She nudged me. "Just good eh?" I sighed. "Okay. It was amazing. You have no idea." "Ohh, tell me more, tell me more!" I slapped her. "There's no more to tell!" Our awkward moment was saved when she pulled up to the hospital.
"Lauren, don't make me go. You know I hate counselling." she tutted me and got out, gesturing for me to follow. Reluctantly I got out and lumbered over to her. "Come on, if you tell her what happened, you'll probably only have to go this once. You look happier anyways." She linked her arm through mine and came with me to check in.
When my name was called, I slowly got up, dreading that I actually had to go. "Are you gonna wait here for me?" I asked her with puppy dog eyes. "Of course." she hugged me and sent me on my way.
As I got into the room, a friendly lady, who informed me that her name was Barbra, greeted me. She offered me a seat and I lowered myself into it, doing my best at looking happy. Not like it was a hard thing to do. "So, Catherine. You're from Australia?" she asked. I nodded with a smile. "Okay then. Well, I'm just gonna talk to you for this hour and just try to help you in the best way I can. So, two nights ago, you attempted suicide. Do you want to tell me why?" I stared down at my hands, trying to think of the best answer.
"Well, it started from a fight between my boyfriend and a friend of mine who also happens to be my boyfriends' ex-friend. It was a HUGE fight and I broke it up but...they were both so angry at me. You see, my boyfriend is Liam Payne from One Direction, so it's already been hard enough on me, since some creep set me a letter with a picture of him and me. So then, later, I went onto my twitter and found loads of mean things and I got HURT! My life has been a mess. I fell pregnant at 18, lost the baby and was bullied because of both and now this. So that's why I had tried. But I wish I hadn't, I realized that I have so much to lose." I finished with a sigh.
Barbra scratched her chin. "Sweetie, you've had a troubled life. Have you been to counselling before?" I nodded. "When I lost my baby." She scrawled something on a note book and furrowed her brow. "What's your frame of mind now?" I smiled to myself, remembering last night. "I'm so happy. I've found a reason to stop being so depressed. I've realized that I take my life for granted. I've realized that I shouldn't give up so easily."
Barbra stood and I followed her lead. She stuck out her hand and I shook it briefly. "I can see you've got it sorted. Good for you. You're one of the easiest patients I've ever had." She led me outside and put her hand on my shoulder. "Good luck darling, and many good wishes for your future." I smiled and said my thanks, walking up to Lauren who was checking out the front desk guy. "I'm fine to go!" I piped up. "So you don't have to come back again?" I shook my head, grinning at her. "Well, that's a cause for a celebration! I think we should go shopping. I saw some nice markets, we should go there. Oh my gosh, this is gonna be fab!"
We got back into the car and drove to Lauren's 'special marketplace'. It was actually quite cute. We were looking around for a while, getting great deals and chatting along the way. "So, how're Emma and Anastasia? Last I heard from Emma, she was with some sexy English guy. Apparently his name had two syllables?" Lauren laughed at that. "Yeah, he's actually really nice. They just moved in together, actually. As for Anastasia, she's gone all out. She went to Russia and is doing some worldwide competition. I told them that I was coming and they were so upset that they couldn't come, which really sucks." she explained, picking up a dress and resting it against her chest.
