•Y/N: Your Name
•E/C: Eye ColorAuthor's POV:
A few minutes go by before Saros is able to return to his prisoner at the top of Gambren's Tower, and, when he does, he finds her shaking like a chihuahua from a mixture of cold and fear. As they breathe, their breath becomes visible in a foggy cloud. He didn't realize how chilly it was due to his warm clothes, but, even though she has a sweater on, poor Y/N is dressed in a skirt. The woman feels relieved upon seeing he's back and quickly notices the camera floating behind him with the help of his powers. Currently the device is off, but it won't be that way for much longer.
"Are you all right?" He asks, feeling worried, though, his voice conceals the depth of his concern for her. Y/N gives a quick nod while vigorously rubbing her arms.
"I-I'm f-f-f-fine." Her stutter was unavoidable due to her trembling, and it certainly pulled at the villain's heartstrings. He walks up to her, being sure to block the path of the wind with his body. A part of him wants to scoop her up and take her back to the lair, where she can get a hot shower and sleep beneath his blankets, but he pushes that desire aside. He has work to do.
"I'm going to need my cape back now. Don't worry. I doubt you'll be waiting long for your hero." It was hard not to notice the bitterness in his tone as he spoke the last sentence. He wasn't fond of the thought of battle anymore. His emotions are getting in the way.
He only hoped that he'd be able to keep his head clear for battle, if not for him and his crew, then for her. He promised to keep her safe, and he intends to stay true to that. Saros isn't the only one disappointed about their departure. Y/N is also a bit sad, since she had bonded with her captor. The two of them had gotten along oddly well, despite their differences, but this is not the only reason she doesn't want to be rescued.
Her life will most definitely become a living Hell with reporters always crowding her path, and more rumors will certainly spark if Herald comes to save her. Even if all of that were to fade with time, she'd still have to return to a rather boring and uneventful life. The woman feels conflicted in many ways, unsure of what she could possibly do to get her desired outcome. At the moment, it seems things won't go well for her no matter what. All she truly knows is that she wants to be back on the ground safe and sound without ever needing to go through with Saros' plan.
Y/N brings her hand to the clasp on his cape before removing the warm fabric from her body and handing it over to the villain. He nods in thanks before putting it on over his coat, while a cold wind rushes over her form. The woman's teeth chatter as she grips her arms and rubs them violently to stay warm. Her captor moves closer to her, preventing the breeze from coming through. "Just hold on a little longer." From his pocket, he pulls out handcuffs, causing her to gulp in fear. "Give me your hands," he orders in a gentle tone with his other hand outstretched towards her. Her hands shake vigorously as she hesitant places them on his hand.
'She's as cold as ice,' he notes, guilt tugging at his chest. Saros locks the cuffs on her wrists, attaching his hostage to the railing, but they are adjusted loose enough for her to escape if she wants to. Upon realizing this, she meets his icy orbs questioningly. He stares into her E/C eyes for a moment, but says nothing as he stands up. Y/N now sits with her knees to her chest and her arms held above her head. Unable to stare at her much longer, he turns to the camera.
"I need you to stay silent during the announcement, but once I put the camera on you, I want you to call out for Herald to rescue you. That's all you have to do." He turns his head some in order to see her nod her head. She looks absolutely pitiful with the way she's positioned. His gaze softens noticeably as he adds, "it will be over soon." Those were the only words of comfort she receives before the camera turns on. Throughout the entire city, regularly scheduled programs are intercepted by the villain's feed. Even the large screen in the middle of downtown broadcasts the disturbance. The citizens watch in fear upon seeing the villain's familiar face on display.
"Greetings, citizens of Wallowdale. Did you miss me?" He tilts his head slightly with a terrifying smirk and a more crazed tone of voice. Y/N watches from behind and can't help but notice the immediate difference between how he presents himself to the public and how he behaves in private. Unlike the rest of the city, she no longer sees him in the same light that she did before. Everyone else, however, is left quaking at the mere sight of him.
"I've captured your little girlfriend, Herald. Would you like to say hello, darling?" Saros steps aside and points the camera on her shaken form. She freezes on instinct. She was never fond of cameras or attention, and she especially isn't thrilled that he referred to her as Herald's girlfriend. People watch at the edge of their seat as a pair of eyes widen among the masses in recognition at the sight of the shivering female. Y/N meets the villain's eyes for a moment and instantly feels calm enough to speak. She knows what has to be done.
"H-Herald, please, if you're l-l-listening, save me! Please, save me!" She screams loudly to come off distressed. Her head then falls as her shoulders shake to give off the impression that she broke down crying, which brought an impressed smirk to the villain's lips.
'Quite a little actress you are. You're full of surprises, aren't you, Y/N?' Saros nods in approval to the woman, giving her a sense of relief, before putting the camera back on him. "I would hurry if I were you. I've placed bombs all over Gambren's Tower. All are set to go off in fifteen minutes, so don't keep us waiting. Good luck, hero." With a booming, evil laugh he turns off the device with a wide smile.
'That should do it.' Saros turns to his prisoner to praise her for her excellent performance, but is left surprised by her sudden change of expression. Y/N stares at the man with frightened eyes.
"T-There are bombs!?" If she wasn't scared before, she certainly is now, and, with only fifteen minutes before they set off, she isn't sure if Herald will be able to make it in time before the explosives blow. She could die! The woman starts to breathe frantically, worrying the male as he comes to her side.
"Y/N, calm down. I told you already, I won't let you die. He'll come in time, he always does. Now, please," his words do little to settle her rapid heartbeat.
'This is insane! I can't do this. I have to get down!' She tries to escape her bonds with tears in her eyes, but stops when a warm hand is placed upon her face. A frown finds its way to Saros' face as he uses his sleeve to wipe away her hot tears. At that point, Y/N's breathing regulates as she stares into his caring, blue orbs, and she nudges against his hand to gain more warmth. "You won't get hurt, I swear on my life."
"W-What if something goes wrong?"
"Nothing will," he says confidently in a soft tone. If her hands weren't bound, she'd wrap her arms around his body, but perhaps it's for the best. Still, her heart beats louder than a drum, though, not just in fear. The villain thoroughly enjoys the sensation of her soft skin beneath his fingertips, amazed by the fact that she truly finds comfort in his touch. He felt the temptation to lean in closer. In doing so, their lips would've connected. His white spots illuminate at the thought as he forces himself to pull away.
'Who am I kidding? She'd never want to do anything of the sort with me. Besides, I have other things to worry about.' It won't be long now before the hero shows up. It's better to get his head in the game now before he gets distracted. Sure enough, after a few moments pass, they hear a voice from behind.
"Saros!"
The two tense upon hearing the familiar smooth vocals of Herald and turn their gazes to where he stands by the massive antenna. Held in his hands are numerous, disarmed bombs, which had previously been connected to the large tower. The hero pants to catch his breath, likely exhausted from his run across the city and quick search for the explosives.
"Let her go."
