•Y/N: Your Name
•H/C: Hair Color

Author's POV:

Gerard emits soft purrs whilst having his head scratched by the human carrying him in her arms as they steadily make their way over to the flat next door to Y/N's. The H/C-haired woman sent the cat a small smile, but her thoughts are currently elsewhere. Her mind wouldn't let go of the scene that happened a little over thirty minutes ago. Saros, the scariest man in the city, or even possibility the whole world, wants her to live with him, to be his friend. She didn't see him as a monster anymore, though, so was the idea really so crazy?

Yes, there are still a many number of things about the man that frightens her, but there is also a different side that only she had seen. Beneath that tough exterior is just a lonely guy, longing for attention, and, on some level, she felt pity. She didn't think that if she went to live with him, he would change— that showing him affection would magically turn him into a better person. She knows that would only be wishful thinking. Saros isn't all evil, though, so she didn't think he'd treat her badly if she agreed to come with him.

The villain wants her to come live with him, however, before she could even think of accepting his offer, there are many things she will have to consider. It could be dangerous, but she had no doubt in her mind that Saros would protect her if something bad were to happen. After all, he had saved her once before, so she trusted him to do at least that much. It would feel as though she was leaving everything behind, but would she, really? Saros did say she'd be able to come and go as she pleases, and it isn't like she'd be committing crimes.

It'd only be a place to live. A frustrated groan exits her lips as she stops in front of her neighbor's door. All this thinking was giving her a headache. After shifting the cat to be securely held in one arm, Y/N raises her fist and raps on the door a couple of times to alert the woman on the other side of her presence. It was silent for a few minutes, but there was no answer, so she went to knock again only for the door to be pulled open before she could hit the wood. Ms. Hammiche smiles brightly at the woman in front of her and would've embraced her if the girl had not been holding her beloved cat in her arms. She wouldn't want the kitty to get squished.

"Sorry to bother you so late, but he strayed over to my balcony again," she apologizes with a modest smile, causing the old lady to shake her head.

"Oh, you're never a bother, Y/N. Come in, come in. I just made cookies and tea." The older woman plants a hand on the younger's back to usher her inside, not giving her much of a choice, though, Y/N was happy to accept the offer. It was nice to see her neighbor again. This would be the first time they talked since the kidnapping.

"Go on, have a seat. I'll go get everything." Y/N chuckles as the woman disappears into the kitchen and sets Gerard on the floor, allowing him to race to the food bowl in the room, before sitting on the pale blue couch. The plastic cover crinkles under her weight as she shifts to get comfortable before Ms. Hammiche returns with a tray of sugar cookies and mugs of tea. The old woman sets it on the coffee table before sitting beside Y/N and grabbing her cup. "I heard a man's voice in your apartment earlier. Did you finally get a boyfriend?" She asks cheekily to embarrass the younger female, who shakes her head at the elder.

"No, it's not like that. He was just... checking in on me." Her voice drifted off some, showing that she is having some troubles.

"Ah, yes, I've heard about your accident. Did that nasty villain, Saros, actually save you?" Y/N lightly nods her head while leaning forward to grab the white mug of tea on the table. A distant look forms in her eyes, for she wished to spill everything to the old woman, but knows better.

"It surprised me too. Hey, Ms. Hammiche, that, uh... friend of mine. He asked me to move in with him," she mentions with great hesitance before having a sip of her tea. She wouldn't give the woman a name. That would only spell trouble, and she wants to avoid that as much as possible. Ms. Hammiche is a wonderful, old lady who she thinks of as family. She doesn't want to risk her getting into any trouble.

"Oh?" The old woman bares a cheeky grin, causing Y/N to somewhat blush and shake her head with a smile. The added color in her cheeks disappears the moment her worries come back, however, and she sighs.

"There's just one problem. I want to say yes, but he's... Well, he's kind of sketchy." Ms. Hammiche's brows scrunch together in concern for the young woman beside her as she takes a sip of her hot tea. The girl seemed lost; it was no wonder she sought guidance.

"Sketchy? Now, Y/N, don't be getting involved in any gang activity. You're too sweet a girl to be getting mixed up in that nonsense." Y/N breathes out a laugh while staring down at the liquid in her mug, feeling a little ashamed to meet the gaze of the old woman.

"No, I mean..." she pauses and sighs, her lips forming a small frown. Wording is important here. She needs an honest answer, but doesn't want to reveal the full situation, which is difficult. "He's done a lot of bad things in his life, but I know he's good inside at least somewhat. He's treated me well and has been honest to me about the things he's done and why he did them, so I guess I'm just a little confused. I don't know if I should go with him or not."

"Do you care about this boy?" Y/N bites her bottom lip and thinks over her answer before nodding her head.

"I do. I think there's a lot more to him than what most would see at a first glance. I think he just needs someone to be himself around." Ms. Hammiche stares at her young neighbor, seeing love clear as day in her orbs. Though it isn't as developed as romantic love, it was obvious she felt strongly for this unnamed hoodlum.

"Well, personally, I'd hate to see you wrapped up with the wrong crowd. You're a lovely, young lady who deserves the best. If you're willing to look past the flaws, though, that's love, sweetie. I don't recommend it. This boy might be bad for you, so try to be sure you're making the right decision. Think of whether or not he's worth any risk he carries. It is not my decision to make, it's yours." The old woman finishes off her tea before grabbing a sugar cookie off the tray. The sweet is soft and warm from the oven. Not a single one came out burnt or undercooked. They are perfect. Y/N also partakes in one of the treats and found the taste absolutely delightful.

"Thank you, Ms. Hammiche. I think I know what I want to do now." The elder nods her head before standing up and dusting the crumbs off her nightgown and plush, white robe. Y/N stands as well and hugs her before letting go.

"I'm always happy to help you, dear. Was there anything else you needed to talk about?"

"No, that was all. Thank you for the tea and cookies, Ms. Hammiche, but I should go to bed. I have work in the morning. Have a good night."

"Goodnight, Y/N." The H/C-haired woman heads for the door, but was given a couple of parting words before she left.

"Choose wisely."
