A white flash of panic coursed through her body after locking eyes with the famed superhero of Wallowdale, though her expression remained flat, yet certainly stunned. Her mind raced through a million things in that single moment, and for a split second, she was scared that he might've somehow learned about her sudden change of address, but that would be ridiculous, so she tossed the assumption almost immediately. It would be impossible for him to know that. For one, she hasn't even lived in the villain's lair for long, and furthermore, how would he be able to guess that she was affiliated with Saros? As far as he knows, she was just his captive the one time, and besides, Saros had told her of every precaution he was taking to ensure the move was done in secret. There's no way he could've known. Ultimately, all she could respond with was,
"Uh... Hey?" KC geeks out over the interaction from the sidelines, practically jumping up and down as she snaps her head in the direction of her coworker and friend.
"About time! I told you to hurry it up. He's been waiting here all morning."
"Sorry, I overslept." Herald chuckles softly and waves his hand about in a relaxed manner before assuring them.
"It's fine. Today's been pretty uneventful. I just wanted to see how you were doing after... You know." A frown finds its way to his lips as a look of guilt crosses his face. "I would've dropped by sooner, but aside from the usual hero work, I had to figure out where to find you then make sure the press wouldn't be making a fuss. Your friend here has told me all about how they've been giving you trouble lately. Unfortunately, they go a bit overboard sometimes looking for the juicy gossip. They can be a bit much for even me at times."
Y/N nods in understanding. If she was hounded by reporters as often as he was, she might've lost her mind. Dealing with them at all has been a stressful experience. She was grateful he took such precautions to avoid them, and she supposed it was nice of him to go out of his way to check on her, regardless of his very eventful life. If she wasn't so involved with Saros, she would've probably been flattered more than anxious.
"Wow, that's very thoughtful of you. You didn't have to go through so much trouble. I came out breathing; that's the most I could ask for," she says lightheartedly with a polite grin. "The injuries are practically gone now, and things have been settling down a bit. Reporters don't show up as often as when it first happened."
"Good to hear." While he looked relieved, Herald's frown remained in place. "Saros must've been pretty rough with you also, huh? I'm so, so sorry you had to go through that. Had I known, I would've found you and brought you back home safely. Then, none of this would've never happened."
