•Y/N: Your Name
•H/C: Hair Color
•E/C: Eye ColorAuthor's POV:
Crystal blue eyes grow wide in horror as Saros witnesses his prisoner fall off the edge of Gambren's Tower while screaming his name at the top of her lungs. Upon hearing Y/N's scream of desperation as well, Herald whips his head around to where the woman once was. However, before he was able to react, the villain beneath him roughly shoves him aside before racing to the edge.
"Y/N, no!" Without hesitation, the man jumps off to go after her. The drop would be a long one, but that wouldn't make it any less terrifying to go through. Many thoughts of panic fills Y/N's head during the descent as H/C strands of hair fly upwards into the sky and tears fill her frightened, E/C eyes. She is currently out of Saros' reach, which made things seem almost helpless.
As badly as he wanted to, he couldn't use his telekinesis to bring her closer to him sooner. The villain knows that if he does, the action would be much too quick. Jerking her fragile body so swiftly will result in her being horribly injured, possibly even killed, and he wouldn't allow that to happen. He gave his word that she would not die, that her life would not be at risk. He would not fail her, otherwise, he could never forgive himself.
His heart thumped so loudly, the beats seemingly echo into the depths of his mind as he pushes himself to fly faster to rescue the damsel in distress. His right arm is kept outstretched to her, attempting to grab ahold of her in any way possible. Saros' vision starts to blur as wind blows into his eyes, forcing them to squint, but he refuses to shut them. He had to make sure Y/N will be safe, for that's all he cares about. It wasn't only about the promise.
This woman is like no other he had met before. Though she was his victim, she felt sympathy for him; she hugged him, comforted him, even got him to laugh. Sadly, chances of fulfilling his promise are dwindling fast. Y/N tries desperately to reach for Saros' hand, barely making contact with his fingertips. He's so close.
With a determined and frustrated growl, he manages to grab her wrist and pull her into his arms. Their bodies spin as he twists himself to be beneath her, so the impact would hit him first, as he starts to curve their fall. It's far too late to pull up now, so he could only hope that he could slow their descent to make the landing less detrimental. All he could do was hold on tight to the person in his arms and hope for the best with his eyes squeezed shut. Y/N, in turn, does the same, holding her savior tightly while sobbing into his coat. She is terrified. She doesn't want to die, nor does she want him to die. This fall might kill the both of them if Saros can't slow them down enough, but, at least, she wasn't ashamed of dying in his arms. Had she not gotten to know him during their time together, there would be no question that she'd be dying like this alone.
And, then, it came.
The pavement cracks as they practically drill into the street, forming a large crater beneath their bodies. A piercing shout escapes Saros' pale lips in pain when his back smacks against the ground as clouds of dust puff into the air in a thick mass, but his grip never loosened. Blood spits out from his mouth and a whimper escapes him. Never had he been hurt so badly before, and he had been beaten up many times in his life. Y/N shakily lifts her head while coughing roughly from the debris to meet the villain's half-lidded gaze. He breathes heavily, having trouble getting oxygen into his lungs, especially with her on top of him, but he still didn't loosen his grip on her.
"Y-You rescued me," she squeaks out in surprise. Yes, he told her he'd make sure she'd live, but he literally jumped off a building for her. He could die because of this! To shock her even further, the man gives the woman a shaky smile before wincing. "S-Saros?"
She reaches her trembling hand out to cup his cheek in concern only to use it to block her eyes when camera flashes along with red and blue lights blind her vision. Saros starts to panic as white spots invade his sight from the flashing lights, his eyes darting through the crowd of people surrounding the crater. He can't be caught here. He has to leave, but, if he does that, he'll have to leave Y/N behind. He doesn't even know if she's okay, but if he doesn't escape now, he might never be able to see her again. He'd be carried off to jail without being able to put up much of a fight. The fall had taken a lot out of him. He could hardly move.
"I-I'm sorry," he whispers softly in a hoarse voice. Y/N turns to the man in confusion only to find him... gone. With widened eyes, she attempts to stand only to fall back to the ground. She was too shaken up to stand, and her body aches like it had been ran over by a train.
"Can we get a medic!?" Shouts an unfamiliar voice from the crowd as the woman tries to push herself up, but it's no use. Eventually, she just gave up and lied there with a dizzy mind as a group of men enter the hole to assist her. Her eyes close for long periods of time before opening for a few seconds between each long blink. She is lifted, placed into the back of an ambulance, and driven away to the nearest hospital, but, to her, it was all a quick, colorful blur. From afar, a pair of icy orbs watch the scene as the vehicle holding his former prisoner drives away.
"S-Someday, I'll come back to you, Y/N." Saros mutters under his breath as a few of his followers, that are dressed in black, approach him from behind. The man suddenly grunts and collapses to his knees, his legs too shaky to keep himself standing. He then starts to cough violently, spitting up an unhealthy amount of blood onto the ground. "Get me out of here now," he demands in a low, threatening growl to the men too afraid to come any closer to their leader. He couldn't make it to the black van on his own. He had used all his energy to disappear into the crowd so that he could get away. His minions nod before they help pull him to his feet, causing the villain to wince in pain. Saros breathes in sharply through his teeth when a shockwave of pain shoots through his body as his men carry him to the large vehicle to get treated by his organization's personal doctor.
'I will return, I swear it.'
