Florina's POV :
Patrick held my arms as he forced me to face him. He gave me a weak smile, "Flora promise me! No matter what happens, run. Run and never look back," he said urgently.
"But Patrick –" he stopped me with one of his soft kisses. He was so close to me leaning his forehead against mine looking straight into my eyes.
He gave me a sad smile and whispered, "I won't let them get you, I won't let them have you, do you understand me?"
I threw my arms around him. I wanted to hold him tight. I softly whispered in his ear, "I love you" and to my surprise he chuckled and whispered back "I love you more."
I hated myself for being a coward and he knew it, he knew I didn't have a fighting bone in my body. He was ready to die for me no matter what and all I was thinking of was living, saving both of us. I was scared of death, I was more scared of dying a coward.
Suddenly the door flew open and there he was, death. He came to greet us, to take us away to his place of darkness and despair. We were both shocked, Patrick put up a barrier of spells around us to keep us safe while we apparated. But all his attempts weren't enough, like he told me it would never end, this nightmare will never end.
I pushed Patrick behind me and shouted, "I'm the one you want, he has nothing to do with this."
"Oh on the contrary. I...want...only...him," death taunted smiling nastily as he got closer to me.
"You are useless to us. You are a coward I heard. You....let....him....die," he got very close to me and whispered in my ear menacingly.
Death's laugh boomed in the wooden hut which shook from the intensity. He turned to the black figures that were behind him and croaked, "Maybe we will find her a place in our ranks –"
Patrick suddenly pushed me out of the way and shouted "RUN!"
We both ran in opposite directions, I was running away from them while he was running towards them. I didn't see it at the time, he told me not to look back, he told me to keep running. Quickly I realized he wasn't behind me. In fact no one was behind me, not even death himself.
'He is holding them off,' I thought.
He was alone in there, fighting with them while I ran like the coward I am. I cannot leave him. I have to help him.
I started running back to the hut but stopped in my tracks when I heard "The deed is done."
It was death. His laugh again echoed through the entire universe, a laugh that physically hurt me to my bones.
I was petrified.
Stunned.
But I couldn't stop. Not now.
I continued running until I found a dimly lit park. I crouched and hid behind the bushes. I was shaking with terror.
"No way," I whispered staining my cheeks with fresh tears.
"Did...Did he kill him? Did he kill my Patrick? Did he take him away from me again?"
I sobbed silently in my hands so that they wouldn't hear me. I was terrified shivering from the cold air.
Suddenly, I heard one of the dark figures voice, "What about the girl my lord?"
He huffed sarcastically "Let her live. Let her live with the misery. She is worthless to us now," and with a blink of white bright light, he was gone.
