3|WORK

Winter Snow lay in her bed grinning like a bobcat, still giddy over what Chase had called a "date". It was only the day before but the black haired zombie still could not get over the euphoria she had felt around him.

"Winter?" Liv called out before opening the bedroom door. Winter jumped in fright and stared at her cousin with confusion. "I'm heading to Majors, want to come before we go to work?"

"Sure, let me throw something on." Winter agreed, waiting for Liv to leave the room before taking off her pyjamas and slipping on a green and black stripped turtleneck, black jeans and her favourite loafers. She rushed into the kitchen, grabbed a red apple and meeting Liv at the front door. "Let's go."

The two zombies stood outside Major and Ravis house, waiting for someone to answer the door. Finally, the door was opened by a woman with dirty blonde hair and only wearing one of Major shirts.

"Oh, boo! I thought you were food." The woman stated rudely.

"Nope, not food. I'm Liv." Liv smiled at the woman, ignoring the comment she had just made. "And you are?"

"Shawna. Major's... Let's just say friend." Shawna giggled after hesitating on what her relationship with Major was.

"Maybe your food." Winter mumbled go herself as her and Liv walked into the house. The other zombie bit back her laugh, not wanting Shawna to be suspicious.

"Huh?" Shawna asked, closing the door behind the two women.

"We just came to pick up his roommate's key." Liv said, covering up Winters sassy comment.

"Oh, Ravi? He's out of town." The blonde woman informed them, not noticing Winters sarcastic eye roll.

"Yeah, I know. That's why I came to get his key." Liv nodded, cutting Winter off before she could reply and staring at the strange blanket fort taking up the living room.

"Is it cool that you come in like this?" Shawna questioned, annoying Winter. "I'm sorry, its just, I don't know who you are "

"What's this?" Liv changed the subject, pointing at the strange fort.

"We dubbed it Fort Lust." Winter gagged at the name and crinkled her nose up in disgust. "It's our special hideaway."

"Major!" Winter cheered as Major flew down the stairs and stared at the two zombies with shock.

"Oh, hey, Liv, Winter." He greeted the pair.

"Hey, I just came to pick up Ravi's supply closet key." Liv said, slowly walking towards the man while Winter waited by the door and Shawna stood by Majors side.

"Yeah, yeah. I think it's right here." Major stumbled over his words as he stepped forwards and grabbed a key from a bowl of keys.

"Well, I know some rats that won't feed themselves." Liv cleared her throat and grabbed the key from Majors outstretched hand. "You kids have fun."

"Bye." Winter waved at the couple as she dived out the door, still in disgust by the blanket fort.

After a short car drive they finally made it to work, Winter typing up some important documents in Ravi's office while Liv fed the test rats.

"Winter, a prisoner knows something about the Weckler case, want to join us?" Clive popped his head into the office, smiling at the bored woman.

"Oh God, yes please! This is killing me." She jumped from her chair and ran out the office, following Liv and Clive upstairs to an interrogation room. Liv walzted into the room where Peyton was staring the familiar man down. "Oh, its the hot Asian that attacked Liv."

"This clown? Oh, hell no." Liv scoffed once she realised who their witness was.

"This is her case?" AJ jumped up in fright. "Take me back to jail then. I'd rather do time than help her make a collar."

"Whoa, there. This is my case. Miss. Moore is a medical examiner just like Miss. Snow is." Clive said, calming the room down with only a few words.

"They're all my cases." Liv huffed, rolling her eyes and crossing her arms.

"Not helping, Liv." Clive sighed, shooting the difficult woman a look of warning.

"You don't get it. This chick is a mutant." The prisoner cried, glaring at the pale haired woman.

"A mutant?" Winter whispered to Liv with humour, trying to hold back her laughter as she knew Liv must have gone full on zombie mode on him.

"A mutant?" Ajs lawyer also questioned, sending her client a strange look of disbelief.

"That's what I said!" He tried to defend himself, still shooting Liv scared glances. "We tussled, her eyes went red and her face got all...mutant-ish."

"Mutant-ish?" The woman repeated again.

"Lady, will you stop repeating my words like I'm crazy." The prisoner complained.

"I kicked his ass, that's all that happened." Liv stated smugly, a smirk gracing her lips causing Winter to scoff and roll her eyes. "If he wants to give me super powers to make himself feel better, then I say let him."

"I'm interested in hearing more about these mutant powers." Peyton piped up, looking at the prisoner with interest. "Did she know martial arts?"

"Damn right, she did. She was skilled."

"As skilled as a ninja, perhaps?" She continued to question.

"Totally."

"She's a mutant ninja." Winter laughed as she quickly noticed where Peyton was headed with these questions. "Did she have a round shell, hankering for pizza?"

"Ninja, please." He mocked, glancing down at the table.

"Mr. Jin." The lawyer spoke up, trying to put this conversation back on to a professional path. "Let's try to keep your testimony credible. Please tell them what they need to know."

"The testimony?"

"Right." AJ nodded, getting back on track. "I got this telescope mirror so o can talk to the guys in the cells next to me. The night he died, I heard a noise coming from Wecklers cell, and in that mirror, I saw this fat ass guard, Gary Oberman. He was hanging Weckler with a belt. Haven't seen that dude on duty since that night."

"We never talked to a man named Oberman." Liv mumbled earning an agreeing nod from her cousin.

"We should track him down and make a house call." Clive glanced at his two assistants, watching as they nodded at his suggestion.
